I've been watching some of the UK Discovery shows by Mark Evans such as "a car is born"; I've noticed that he sometimes uses Beta sockets and ratchets...

No flank drive on that socket, just regular old corner drive. Even Kobalt sockets have flank drive... I think Pittsburgh Pro does too.
That's odd. I have a Beta 1-1/4" 6pt socket that does have relieved corners.

I've got a bit of Beta, mainly'cos it's what my local dealer keeps in stock, so if I need something in a hurry it's usually Beta!
Most of the 'core' tools - wrenches, sockets and suchlike, I believe are made in Italy. Mine are mostly marked as such on tool or packing! Quality is O.K. but they are not 'top end'
Bear in mind that for every tool, they offer 2 or 3 different quality levels. Wrenches, for example, come in regular (which has a rough finish - what we would call 'industrial' in the U.K.) and polished, which are much nicer! Sockets and accessories are all polished, but the top range with the all steel handles are Ko Ken tools re branded. Might as well buy the KoKen and save a load!
Screwdrivers and pliers come in regular, 'easy' and 'max'. The Beta max are really nice, the 'easy' obviously a bit cheap. Usually when you see something heavily discounted it's Beta easy, but you can't judge the rest if the range by that!
Can't vouch for the boxes as I don' own any.

Of all the tag names to add on to the end of Beta, you would have thought "Max" would
be at the bottom the list... They could have had so many names..

When you've got a selection of Old Britool, Stahlwille, Hazet and Snap On wrenches to play with, you only pay so much attention to a rack of Beta!
I'll ask or look next time at that dealer!
I've got a 3/4 drive metric socket set by Beta and it's been fine! Seem to recall it was marked 'Italy'! Nicely finished and certainly doesn't have that 'Taiwanese' feel!
Sure, I doubt it would last as well as one of the top end makes, but you've got to be going some to 'wear out' 3/4 drive sockets, and unless you are maintaining Steam Loco's or marine engines all day I doubt you would!

Really like Beta stuff, feels nice to use and more orange the better in my book
their Allen keys are good ,
although just as easy to loose, what is it with Allen keys ?

more likely the other way around since Beta stuff has been orange and black probably way longer than "Tactix tools" has been around selling rebranded .cn and .tw tools.
not comparing quality though...

I'm also a Beta tools user and a (not so ) funny thing that i have noticed is that new tools have no more the "Italy" word stamped ...
Although, all the boxes where tools are delivered have a control certified sticker saying that they camed from the Sovico plant in Italy...
One thing i can assure: the steel they are made is the same Brinnel rigidity!
