Just don't start waxing your tools and you'll be OK.

Nothing wrong with keeping your gear tip top that's for sure. I can imagine how awesome it would be to score a box like that thats been very well looked after, say in about 30 years from now.

I dunno man. don't mean to get too personal but I'd bet that most guys wax their tool on occasion.

FRESHLY waxed? YES! 2 weeks post wax with that drunken stubble? notsomuch...

It's all the rage now days, an unwaxed box under 35 years old is pretty rare...

I've found that after about 30 that they start to see that its a pointless exercise .

to the OP, at least you're not out obsessing about your yard. Lord knows you'd be called for crazy about that but waxing your toolbox is "normal".
