How'd I miss this one? You must be up on the hill?

That white stuff will be creeping up the peninsula all day, and it's expected here this afternoon/evening.

Great building!

Quick update. Just back from salmon fishing season. Got the piers for front, back and lean to poured, and the 6" slab. Two drains in floor. Lean to section is well under way. Power is in to panel in building.

Nice build. In the interior pic it looks like the floor has not been poured yet.
What are the plans for the Lean to, fire wood?
That is a long roof line on that side. How much snow do you get in your area?

The timber looks great. I think that will look even better with the interior finished and only the timbers exposed. Nice detail on the supports too.

Akdiesel, in the pic the poured floor is under the plastic. I'll post a pic of the floor when we uncover it.
Lean to plans include an enclosed room in the back section, 12x12', for storage and for a future air compressor. No firewood here, but we do burn lots of coal from the beaches. I already have a good coal bin though. Basically extra storage and parking for now.
We do get a lot of snow but with the slope of the roof and the long side being southern exposure it shouldn't be a problem.

Granada Don, first project is rebuilding the Kubota tractor. Then my old Bronco is a work in progress...
Possibly a hot rod, a small boat and snow shoe maintenance.
I think it's going to look nice with the drywall done. I'm going to insulate, drywall and wire it in the fall after I get back from halibut fishing. Also install the doors.
I'm planning on t8 lighting but I'm not sure how many yet.

With the siding I was trying to match the color of our house and other out buildings. The roof is the same but the siding came out slightly darker. I was hoping for a little more contrast between the two. Close enough I guess..

Here's a current interior shot.

Exterior. It took alot more rock than I had figured for the building and to get the driveway how I wanted it. Still need more work and rock..
Doors will be here in a week or two, and I need to bury waterline and heating oil line to shop before the cold hits.

Eventually I will close in the lean to section and build a non heated storage room 12x12' in the back section of it.

Your place looks awesome. Thanks for posting and thanks for the updates. I used to live in Fairbanks back in the early 90's. Coming back to Alaska and doing some halibut and cod fishing is on my bucket list.

Update, got the driveway finished and I installed the doors today.

Just how thick is that gravel/"rock" in the driveway ? It does not look like it is a uniform size.

I assume you did it that way so that when the snow and ice melt in spring the driveway and garage will be high and dry above the "mud flats", correct ?

Is the driveway going to sink into the mud and require more gravel next summer ?

Yeah, spring is when it's bad. The original drive didn't have any fabric and it got pretty bad at times. We re did that and added alot more gravel. Pretty much a common practice around here. Also adjusted the slope for better drainage as much as we could.

A little more progress. Working by myself when I have time. Pretty much closed up except I'm a little short on siding for one side. Luckily it's been a pretty mild fall.
