Yeah, but twenty bucks from the store less than a mile from my house... that's too easy and cheap to ignore. I've been very impressed by the Taiwan-made Doyle, Bremen, and Icon pliers I have so far.

Like all pliers, this style doesn't work for everything, but they work for some things. Just don't use them on nuts and bolts unless they're already chowdered and you're desperate, and it's the only possible way.

After reading this thread I am felling like I may be the odd one out. I do not have any slip joint pliers any more. It just always seemed to be the wrong tool for the job when I would use them.
They are good bottle openers. I also use them on over-tight thumbscrews, hose clamps, or holding round stock. Problem is most slip joint pliers are ****. For a while, only Channellock and Wilde (rebranded as Tekton and Proto) still make good ones. The old Crescent and Western Forge ones were pretty good too.

Any feedback from users? Still havent pulled the trigger yet.
what are you waiting on, another 20% off coupon?

I like mine. They're a little on the heavy side. They grip really well. I haven't sprayed brake clean on the grips yet.

We're only talking about a $20 investment, for a pretty nice set of three position slip joint pliers

Havent tried the Icons, but if you're looking for a good set of Slip Joints for not a lot of money, check out Tsunoda brand pliers. They're made in Japan. A pair of 8" slip joints from them will run you $11.94 on Amazon. They're excellent. Though they're the tradition slip joint design rather than the fancy fap-on design Icon ripped off.

Late to the game, but snagged these with the 30% coupon.
$12.59+tax.

I did notice the mating of the jaw serrations varied among the half dozen pliers in stock; some mesh better.
The grips are not as tacky and dont extend as high as Snap-on. The hinge pin is also slightly different.
The teeth and wire cutter are almost dead on identical.
Regarding the finish, I cant really say one is better than the other.
Initial impressions are really good.

I was also eyeing the long reach long nose Icons but was disappointed they have straight instead of cross-hatch teeth.

Not half. 25% works. I can’t imagine why people would hand their hard earned money to Snap On as if they get it from a windfall
There are a very few things that Snap-On makes that are 100% worth the money. The ratcheting bit holder screwdrivers come to mind.

Hey, did you also notice that on the Icons, they didn't radius the area around the three adjustment holes and instead put a thin washer on the pivot pin to ease adjustments?

Not sure im following. My SO have the washer too. The design is identical AFAICT.

Are you comparing them to the recess on the LN47ACF?

Update:
I think HF needs to address the grips on these.
They are shorter than pictured.
It stops right at a natural grab point, which is going to expedite wear.
If the material extended and narrowed down like SO, it would also help prevent them from coming off.
The glue seems weak too.
I foresee this becoming a problem sooner than later.
If they can get that lined out, these would be pretty good.

I havent had any issues with the long nose plier grips yet.
