Which ICON wrench sets do you prefer? I'm interested in the metric 5 piece reversible ratcheting flex head. Both ends ratcheting- does anyone have experience with this set? Thank you for your time.

I have the double-box wrench set. I can't say I've used it extensively, but when I have used it they've been great. Lately my work was on my Mini suspension and the rear control arm bars are a PITA without something like that. The Mountain-branded versions are very-well thought of, though the company is apparently tough to get support from.

My coworker has the set that is box end and ratcheting end and the ratcheting end has fallen apart on each one that is most used. Hopefully they have improved that by now. He hasn’t tried to warranty them yet but I keep telling him too.
This is the set I'm interested in.this one ?

Is there a specific reason you want this set? I only ask because I have been buying new tools for my shop and there are several brands available. Tekton also has a set available, they seem like a better value. After I posted this it seems they are not in stock though.

Yeah I saw that after the fact. Seems from other threads their 6 weeks is much longer than 6 weeks as well.................
They are useful and save some hassle/time but not something i'm using every day, think I paid 169 for them and believe done lot better price than that early on and with 20% ICON coupon .
Set I do use daily is WRM-10 ratcheting combo long wrench set that looks be made by high-five (was 119 when I got them and as cheap as 99bucks) .
Same as all the other Kabo rebrands of this set, usable warranty is handy on this type of flex and ratcheting wrench as likely pop ratchet guts or the clevis pin if start using them hard . design more about access than torque but sometimes needs must, you can beef on them fair bit but get too much into the habit and you going be trying out warranty .
Icon warranty very easy currently (probably part of initial brand marketing image) but it is a limited warranty if read the small print, you can bet your last dime that warranty will tighten up in the next few years as they not selling at high enough prices dish out new warranty sets forever .
ICON got popular for this set as was cheapest easy local store with warranty route for the Kabo rebrand .
I would hold out for decent ICON coupon as 219bucks is fairly spendy and you can't be **** sure of warranty being useful for couple decades let alone lifetime, icon tool range prices gone up by about 30 to 40% over last 18 months .

They are as good as it gets and they are made by KABO which is a top of the line Taiwanese supplier. They have a 100 tooth mechanism rather than the normal 72 tooth used my Mountain and others. For wrenches this long that's significant. I have a set and I like them so my answer to your question is if you need them buy them. I just got a 15% off coupon on any item mailed to me by Harbor Freight about a week ago so if you're not in immediate need maybe you can wait them out for a sale.

Those arent comparable. Non reversing and they dont have the offset on the end which makes them so valuable.Is there a specific reason you want this set? You are right! I did not see reversible...............now I see the button they use.
Take a look at Williams ratcheting wrenches and see if they have a similar option. I was looking at the Icons ratcheting flex with open end when I found the Williams. I was able to grab the Williams for a better price during a Zoro sale and their sets are no skips.

I have the Tekton in Metric and I like them. They do not have the raised ring and are not reversable. But the one unique feature they have that I like is that they are 6 point. Some see it as a negative. But I have no issues with it. I see it as a plus. Unless of course you have a 12 point fastener. I can't recall the last time I did where a tool like this would be appropriate.
In the picture those Icons are splines. I know some have said they are not and that picture is an error. They may make them both ways. I would just double check before you order if that is not what you want. Good Luck.

As far as I seen and got it 90 tooth , icon mountain matco all been 90 tooth in ones I own/used .
They spline, not the worst spline drive you can come across but not great in some instances .

The Icons look identical to the Mountain brand that I have. And I like them. Sometimes you want the extended ring, sometimes you don't. So, to be a true GJ member, you need both I have never had an issue with the spline drive. If I'm working on a newer car, I'm not worrying about leaving "witness marks" on bolts; I just want to remove them!

The Icons look identical to the Mountain brand that I have. And I like them. Sometimes you want the extended ring, sometimes you don't. So, to be a true GJ member, you need both
I too have the Mountain set. I've used the hell out of them over the years. Never had an issue with the spline drive. Although I don't own a single tool other than that wrench set with spline drive. I prefer 6 point or 12 point. But anyway, I assume the Icon will perform in a similar fashion. If I was buying them again, I'd go with Icon simply for the ease of warranty/return.
By no means a comparison, but I have a 60* degree offset wrench set I recently bought from Icon. I have absolutely no complaints thus far. But I'm also not sold on the Icon brand just yet either. I don't own anything else Icon other than a 1/2" ratchet I've literally never used.

i have these. i wanted long reversible ratcheting wrenchs, these were the only options. icon, matco, mountain, ezred all seem to be made at the same factory just with different logos on them. im not a huge fan of the spline but it seems to work out and does grab pretty well even on semi rounded fasteners. the offset box end is GREAT, super useful. if i had to nit pick my least favorite feature is the revese selection button, it does get bumped and the direction changes on you. overall a nice set of wrenchs, im happy i have them.They spline, not the worst spline drive you can come across but not great in some instances .
