Identify vintage floor jack

I got this floor jack from craigslist for $40.00 It seems to work fine except that I don't think it fully extends to its maximum height. It only goes as high as 17". No leak and fully comes down and holds weight without a problem. The metal plate is missing, and there is no marking except for the one on the handle showing on one of the pictures. I would like still to rebuilt it and order the right kit but I don't know the brand and model of the jack, not its lifting capacity. Can someone kindly help me with this dilemma? I really will appreciate it. Thank you.

Thanks. But what is the lifting capacity, and would you know the meaning of the markings on the handle? I PM Hiball but I have not gotten any respond. Do you think this an HW copy cat?

I have searched HW 1 1/2 tons and I noticed that the WS has 1 1/2 tons stenciled on the lift frame next to the ID label, mine does not have that although mine has the 4 holes for the iD label which is also missing. Is this an WS or OS model? The pipe also does not have the cross bar for pulling or pushing the jack. It has the top cap for rotation to lock and release the release valve.

Looks like a WS, there are numerous Hein Werner threads here concerning this model and the OS. I believe the WS has a full cutout around the WS and the OS/oboy has a mush smaller relief, Not all the WS models utilized the T Handle, nor did the later models have the raised stamping on the Lift arm.

Thanks Steve. Do you know where I can buy the rebuilt kit for this and the part number? Do this model use the leather cup? Can you point me to the link how to install the replacement parts. Thank you in advance.

Hiball, what do you mean by this "Looks like a WS, there are numerous Hein Werner threads here concerning this model and the OS. I believe the WS has a full cutout around the WS and the OS/oboy has a mush smaller relief" ?

In my haste to attempt to answer numerous PM's and threads as quickly as possible I didn't clarify the cut out location, I'm referencing the pump piston area. I'll attach some quotes from a previous member Elroy, he documented to threads concerning the OS and WS and references the measurements to aid in distinguishing them.

It appears to Elroy as a 1-1/2 ton (3,000 pound) model WS which feature a "slot" in the main body at the plunger. If it is a WS, the between frame measurement will be 6-3/4".

The smaller OS series jacks (1-1/4 ton) measure 5-1/4 between frames and have a "notched" block at the plunger

You have a nice vintage piece worthy of a rebuild. Hiball can fix you up with a soft seal kit as a most reasonable price.

Sounds like you're good to go

Elroy trusts that you're aware there's addition HW info available here:

Hiball, I finally was able to raise the jack to its full extension of 20" after draining the old fluid and replacing it to the max of 8 FL. oz. as you instructed. I checked all over for leakage and did not find any. Now, my question is since the jack is functioning well and doesn't show any problem, should I just keep it as is and just dismantle only the parts that have to be sanded, primed, and painted, grease the wheels to restore it? I already have the label to be screwed on after painting.
If I still have to replace some parts, I attached some of the parts that I ordered for my Blackhawk SJ2 that I did not use, can I use this for the HW? Will the orings and leather cup fit? Thanks for your help. Sorry for the long post.

Hi, thank you for the link. I guess Hiball must be pretty busy. Anyway, maybe you can answer my question regarding my HW:
The jack has no leak, reaches full 20" extension, holds weight with no problem. But:
(1)27 pump strokes to reach full height from down position.
(2)8 full turn clockwise and counter- clockwise knob rotations to full release and lock of release valve.
Is this normal? If not, where do I ahve to do to fix the problem. Thanks.
I hope Hiball can give his advice.
