wait........is this spam?
I guess I'm an idiot too then. I am up in the wee hours of the morning and I quietly respond with the word spam in a post so that the moderators can spot it. Is this the wrong way?
I suppose rather than calling someone an idiot, a sticky or some form of letting people know would be great, HEY!
Well ya but the REPORT button and then you he blank Response box appears and you are conditioned to type...something...... If that's wrong then ya shouldn't get the empty response box.
The golden rules here on the GJ.
1, Report all spammers. If the spammer has multiple posts just report the one post and state multiple spam posts by this spammer in your report message. (otherwise you will be forever sending reports).
not much, probably the same allowances for paid members having politics interjections. hahaWhat do you think the mods do about a member with two user names?
Ya gotta luv it. Spam responding to spam, now how awesome is that?

But in other forums the 'sockpuppets' accounts usually get deleted the other insta-banned.
For a nation that harps on more than anyone else about freedom, you sure get your knickers in a twist over some pretty trivial insignignificant little "rules".
Fine. Forum rules are what they are.YOU SHOULD NOT:
1. Reply to the post in any way. Don't reply with a cute comment. Don't reply with "reported." Etc... Just don't reply to spam posts. That's what they want you to do.
Thanks for this topic. I am getting tired of warning members the links are not safe and some even contain Trojans sent to attack your computer. Remember YOU are the target of SPAMMERS.
Dealt with today.

How about something that says....?...oh let me get crazy here...."That you for reporting spam"! I know this sounds totally crazy, but just an idea.....maybe it's me......

I think this policy is a mistake. A single response, "Reported" saves everyone else from having to do anything--they know it's already handled. If that post is done while the spam is still fresh, it doesn't bump the spam very far up the forum. A single "Reported" post is not merely harmless, it's actually useful.
But I don't run this place.
I do not respond IN THE THREAD... I respond in the REPORT comment. When you hit the "REPORT" button... a comment box comes up... that is where you say what's up.
That is not the issue being talked about here...
What you should never do... is add a response IN the thread...
The reason is two fold...
1. it makes it stay on top of active threads
2. the mods don't see it... unless they open the thread
They are however notified behind the scenes when you select that "Report" button.

The system works well, I don't understand why experienced members try to challenge it.![]()

The report button works well, being in an opposing time zone to most members here I can see some spam come up that users in the U.S. may not see. Hit 'report' simply type in "looks like spam" and check back later. The offending post is usually dealt with by the mods quick smart with a banned "user" as the result and sometimes a complete deletion and disappearance of their user name and account. Same applies to aggressive or abusive members.

Maybe they think it's part of the gang initiation to gain admittance to the Dark Web...![]()
Simple...also silly.Respond to spam: one week ban. Simple.
If that post is done while the spam is still fresh, it doesn't bump the spam very far up the forum.
If it's fresh enough to already be at or near the top of the page, what harm was done?A reply keeps the SPAM post at the top of the page.
Clearly, I do not know how the system works. The policy is not a mistake when you know how the system works.

A temp ban on some one that replies to spam would not be fair. In some cases you do not know it is SPAM but in the recent posts the SPAM is obvious.
The harm done is it takes on the look that the topic has no issues but if it slips down a little with an odd subject name and no replies it makes it easier to find and by that time hopefully many of you have hit report and tagged it as spam.
Well hopefully this topic will teach many of you.![]()
