This is a very worrisome development. Fortunately you can buy USA made Lisle for 20% of the price and they are happy to swap out broken ones.
My SO dealer sold used torx bits and claimed they had a lifetime warranty still. He would warranty them for you no problem, don't know if the company approved of it but he did it.
As to the Lisle torx bits, I need to clarify. The one piece bits that are so cheap that they are only sold in sets, yes, those are garbage. Lisle now has a line of "super" two piece torx bits that don't cost much more and work great. I got a set for my portable kit and am very happy with them, so far they are holding up at least as well as my Mac and S-K bits in the garage.
Its a GM T-47 used for door strikers and seat belts.
It was an early use of torx plus. If you look at it close, you will see the splines are flat.
Many people just used a T-50, but it didnt fit well.

This. There are 2 grades of Lisle. Unfortunately 99% of people have the cheap one piece'rs as they're sold at retailers everywhere.
I have not handled the better Lisles but reports are favorable. Honestly, I just gave my one piece Lisles away and purchased some Neikos from Amazon. Probably the same as HF.
