I wanted to share with the group my recent warranty experience with Impact Poly Hammers. I've been a huge fan for a while and have owned their products for probably a decade if not longer. I've given them as gifts and recommended them to quite a few of you here as well, over the years.

With all the recent threads about warranty experience and people being **** on by brands like Wright, Proto and of course SK, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to share the outstanding support I got from Impact Poly Hammers. It restored my faith in humanity a bit, so maybe it will do the same for you?

Background: Last weekend, I experienced a defect in my beloved 52 oz. deadblow from IPH, much to my disappointment. I have never abused this thing, nor had it outside it's desired temperature range (per their website). In fact, it was only 89F here in Phoenix the day this thing split open on me.

Pics of the carnage:

As you can see, not abused and not struck off center, certainly not in a manner that will make it split with a crack that circumnavigates the entire head on that side of the hammer.

Warranty Experience:
  • Saturday night (9/21/2024), I wrote to IPH, including the above pictures and a similar write-up about the conditions under which this happened. I mentioned that I believed, per my reading, that unless it splits on the head itself, the warranty should cover this defect, and asked how I go about getting a replacement if so.
  • Monday morning (9/23/2024), I get an email from IPH. First two sentences of the email: "Hello, thanks for contacting us and no problem with the warranty claim! We will gladly send you out a new one." All they asked was the address and contact info.
  • Tuesday morning (9/24/2024), I get an email from IPH, confirming the hammer is ready to ship and will be picked up that day.
  • Thursday mid-day (9/26/2024), the new hammer is delivered to my doorstep by FedEx.

I didn't even have to pay shipping, which I was sure I would (based on my reading of the warranty). I did not strong arm anyone, I didn't threaten to post on here if I didn't get my way. I was not offered anything in return for writing this either. They are simply good people who stand behind their products and did right by me because it was the right thing to do. I am absolutely floored with how well they treated me and that for a premium priced $100+ hammer, I got the kind of warranty service that so many other "premium brands" seem to offer but never really deliver on when the chips are down.

Hopefully the collective here appreciates seeing that not every warranty department is run by unhelpful assholes and that, at least with some companies, you can still trust them to take care of you in the rare instance that their premium products fall short.

Glad you had a good interaction and I'm unsurprised given my experience with the guys at IPH.

I'm sure OP remembers but for those that don't, I had made a couple of posts regarding these hammers about 15 years ago.

When the new owners (from my home city) bought IPH a couple of years ago they reached out to me and thanked me for those posts. I was even more surprised when Shaun came to my work and brought me some nice IPH swag. He showed a real passion for the product and their customers, asking about my tool usage, likes and dislikes of the product etc.

They certainly are a premium product but to me worth it and it's always good to see a company (especially a local one for me) doing things right.

Also agree with Hakeem that it's important to shout out when things are done right vs just calling out the negatives.
