Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy a set of 3/8" impact sockets and use a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter with my 1/2" impact? The 3/8" sockets are cheaper. Thanks.

1/2" drive impact sockets will put up with substantially more torque, for a much longer time than 3/8" drive sockets. Further, you lose torque when using a drive size adapter with an impact wrench. You want to minimize the number of pieces between the socket and the wrench to maximize actual torque applied to the fastener. This is why I typically recommend that folks get deep wall impact sockets first, because they'll reach places where you might otherwise need a short extension with shallow sockets.

l do, use them on my 3/8 impact guns.I don't even own any 3/8 impacts.
