Impressed: ARB 12V On-Board High Performance Air Compressor

I generally run my trail Jeep tires between 2-4 psi. Every now and then on some of the trips there is a need to do some road driving. On the road I like to be at 12 psi. Not wanting to rely on other people for air I decided to buy this compressor after some research. I didn't want to haul around a CO2 tank or set up a compressor on the motor.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with the quality and performance. I did a little test. I drained one of my tires to zero. I hooked the compressor to an old battery I had laying around, it was only putting out 11.5 volts with the compressor running. I ran the compressor for exactly one minute. In that minute it brought the tire, which is a 38" from 0 to 11 psi. With the engine running I'm betting I will be able to air up a tire from 2 to 12 psi in less then a minute.

Obviously the fact that I'm running low pressures dramatically helps the compressor performance. But I never imagined airing up a 38" in less then a minute with a 12 volt electric compressor.

Its advertised on their website for $545. Did you do any better than that through one of their vendors? Or did you buy direct? I've been using a cheap harbor freight unit that gets burning hot after extended use.

I bought it through Amazon, the vendor was Sexton Offroad. I believe it was $504 and free shipping.

Actually CO2 beats that.
Till it's empty.
Never had the room to mount a york, so I went with a superflow mv50. $50-75, fast, portable and cheap enough it's not a big loss if it dies. I have 6 and none have died yet. One's lived life airing up 40" Iroks for 5 + years. Only issue was the coupler lost the gasket. Replaced with a normal coupler and still going.

Or just be able to start the engine.
This is just a different version of the nitrous oxide/all motor debate.

I don't think a CO2 tank airing up a tire faster then a compressor needs to be debated. Pretty much common knowledge.

5 friends gave up on CO2. Novalty, and a hassle. Neat to have, but don't rely solely on it. Might be different we had a friendlier place to refill.

Like I said earlier, I have a York OBA set-up in my wheeler and I also have a powertank set-up as well and the C02 is definately a paion in the *** because in order for me to fill it I would have to either leave work early or take a day off work as I work from 7am-5:30pm and all the places are closed when I get off work and not open on weekends. The York has never failed me though.
