Possibly a cobbled together unfinished project. Where's the downfeed? The pieces that fit on the column look to be made from barstock, not castings as you normally see on factory made drill presses.

Looking into old Millers Falls and Goodell Pratt catalogs from 1925-90, they look similar, but not exact. The GP ones are more similar, the MF all clamp on. As noted above, the OP is more bar stock than cast, so maybe newer.
Suspecting 3rd party now, as GP wass gone, nothing on later MF card logs up to 1957.

It looks like someone took one of those drill press stands made for an electric hand drill and modified it and a M-F hand drill to make a hand cranked drill press.

Appreciate all responses so far. Pretty sure it’s factory made with the base and work top both cast iron and or steel. As far as modified electric hand drill press, I own 5 in my collection and no way. I will get the rest of the ZAT number and post as soon as I can. Thanks again

The base, table and column are factory production--for something else. The rest would be easy to fab given a half-decent shop.
I think the spring is on the wrong side of the table. I can see using up-pressure rather than down for the feed. Having the spring between the table and the head makes no sense.

I don't see any mechanism for feed or down pressure, unless it's obscured in the photos. I would think that a factory made device wouldn't use all those cap screws to fasten bits and pieces together.
I took it apart to get at the full number, and here is what I got: “ZATKO MET—-OD. CO.” On top line. The space after the Met is the keyway opening. Below that I read; “FUCLI—0”again the space is the key way. ThanksWhat's this say. ZAT-something?

The spring works fine to lift the eggbeater up after drilling so you don’t have to pick up the drill assembly dead weight each time. Downward Drilling pressure is via the eggbeater Knob opposite the gear knob.
Knob opposite eggbeater gear knob for downward pressure. Remember this is a lightweight operation and press is only their to drill a straight hole 90 degrees,

Those markings are for just that single piece, not the maker of the whole thing.
