Getting closer to putting insulation and sheetrock on my garage build and I'm hoping to get the compressor mounted in a more enclosed area and run a fixed line through the trusses towards an air reel mounted to the ceiling.

I've seen 2 choices .. some suggest simply using galvanized water pipes for the run .. others suggest a regular airline like this kit.

What are the suggestions from those that have done this before?

the risk of the rapid style line, is that it can still be punctured, if you run a screw or nail through it, or if a fitting or joint needs repair, it may be behind the finish. If you can get it away from hazards...., but running it through a 2x (you should not drill trusses) attached to the truss - you might be OK

black iron would be the best, but with threading and such, the design and install are more important, but it will last a lifetime.

I went with the rapid air system and mounted in the wall. I did put nail plates to mitigate the risk of puncturing.

I've been very pleased so far.

The metal pipe offers a bit of cooling to the hot air. Plastic, no.
Its not good news, but for air, you need to think starting what you want to do, then work back, build a system and get a compressor. A 30 gal system is not going to cut it if you want to run anything that spins.
Buying used and DYI you can drop a lot on compressor, air system, and tools.
Compressor: Slow motor, 175PSI
System: 3/4" pipe, dryer, filter, regulator, hose
Tools: Your choice
