Roger that. UL Listed, Probably includes that it can conduct 15 amps of REAL electricity without releasing smoke.

That there is a mobile home receptacle and one of the many reasons I won't set foot inside a trailer house. I admit to not watching the video.
I've had two mobile homes over the years including the one I have now and both have regular plugs, switches and boxes. I've also worked on others and I've never seen anything like that.

no such thingI've never seen them used in houses, just RV's, mobile homes, but they are UL approved and manufactured by respected companies like Pass and Seymour (Legrand).

It's not a receptacle. There is no skin effect @ 60Hz under 8.3mm. #12 is 2.1mmIMHO this receptacle falls into that category. We can discuss skin effect and other attributes of how current is carried...

I know that you must have seen UL listed devices that are total POS's. IMHO this receptacle falls into that category. We can discuss skin effect and other attributes of how current is carried, but I do not trust that type of connection for this application.
Cost reduction has it's place, but not here.
It's not a receptacle. There is no skin effect @ 60Hz under 8.3mm. #12 is 2.1mm
which is between 1/0 and 2/0.... lot larger than #12

Yep, looks like some "RV ****" to me.I'm guessing the design if primarily to facilitate use in thin walls.

I beg to differ. Whenever AC current is running through a wire, there a skin effect at 60 hz so the connection needs to account for the fact that the current is in the skin, which is about 8mm as you said.which is between 1/0 and 2/0.... lot larger than #12
At the connection point of the wire to the receptacle, you are relying on the spring tension of that punch down connector to make contact with sufficient force to handle the current.load. In addition, the top of the wire isn't making contact, so you have a little more than 1/2 the wire diameter available for the connection, plus springs lose tension after being exposed to vibration and heat cycles. Perfect for RV use - Not!

Gotta say I agree. Seen lotsa back-stabs quit working, which, to me, says that , as they changed from good, solid contact to none, there was a point where they could have heated up and been a hazard.Cause I've had backstab fixtures catch fire or melt down, but never punchdowns. The punchdowns dig into the conductor on two sides, the backstabs barely graze it. Again, this is assuming it was done correctly. I still prefer screwed or clamped.
Not much experience with the MH punchdowns, but , to me, also, they look ok. Cheap, but ok.
I’m not a professional electrician.
