I have a 14wx28Lx11.5H garage single bay garage for painting its constructed of block walls no insulating besides 1/2 foam board on ceiling. Im running a hotdawg 45k heats up in about an hour or 2 with it being 40 50degrees out side up to 70degrees. so its getting colder out so im trying to insulate it so it heats up quicker an stays warmer longer. so I came to 2x4 frame the walls an r13 them or frame 2x4 spray foam it. also both walls being covered with 1/2 foam board or should I get the blocks filled with foam. whats the best way to go an im also dropping ceiling to 10ft an using foam board on that to.

You may be better served to use rigid 2" thick insulation applied to the interior walls using masonary bolts and fender washers. Tape the joints.

You could use Tap Cons and roofing washers to put foam directly on the walls, wouldn't need that many tap cons if you used construction adhesive also. I would caulk the cracks between sheets or use canned foam depending on how wide the cracks are. Not sure how you'd make it fire proof though, exposed foam is a no no.

Where are you located? I used 2" of foam on my walls, makes it a dream to heat

then you cat turn the 2x4s on its side and it will take up less space. for that matter you can use 2x2s or depending on what size foam you could even use furring strips. add mor insulation to the cealing if you can. if it just heated on occasion and getting finished off go on craigslist and put up an add for free used insulation and do a search for insulation, its often in the free section

Did research on the 2" foam an as much as I need It would cost as much as $750 plus tax an that's not doin ceiling an the wood an matrial. I have enough space so losing 8" anit nothing I'm assuming spray foam is expensive so I'm just gonna 2x4 Frame the walls an r13 them an uses 1/2 foam board total of r16.3. Ceiling will be 2x4 beams an 1/2 foam board an myb r13 total of everything plus extras be around $1000
