Hi everyone,

I got a barn that I would like to insulate. The temperature here can dip down to 0F in January. I took some pictures of the inside and outside. I want to know if I am tackle this insulation job the correct way. Am I going to trap moisture inside the wall? The extierior is finished with Sikken stain. There's batten between the pine board to seal up the crack. There's no vapor barrier outside because there's no siding. Here's what I did inside. I stapled Typar inside the wall stud. I think this will prevent water from sipping inside the insulation. Then I put Roxul insulation inside and I plan to use wood board over the insulation. Do I need to put poly sheet over the insulation as a vapor barrier?

I don't think that your batten is going to prevent infiltration of air and moisture from penetrating the outside wall. In the spring the sun is going to heat the building from the outside and the cold will be the inside. This causes the moisture that has penetrated from the outside to condensate within the wall. To me this looks to be the perfect place to use spray on foam to insulate and seal.

I am not an expert in this field so take the advise to be worth what you paid for it.
