I am remodeling the interior of a 40' X 80' metal building. I have had a suspended ceiling installed with IC rated troffer lights. I am putting insulation on top of the ceiling tiles. I asked my contractor about installing insulation on top of the troffers. He checked with electrical supplier and said you could not put insulation on top of the light as it needs to be clear to disipate heat. I thought the IC (insulation contact) rating meant you could put insulation on top of the lights.
I have searched this forum and the internet and cannot find a definitive answer as to whether you can place insulation on top of a IC rated troffer or not. I am sure there are people on this forum that know the answer, and I would appreciate your input.
Thanks,
Allen
