Getting ready to insulate my metal pole building. It's 42x72x16. I have a quote for rolled batts of unfaced fiberglass. Should I put plastic on outside walls before I put the stuff in and also what is best way to hold it in place? It is 48 inches wide, so I will need two pieces plus an extra 6 inches between my post. Do I put slats across opening or something to hold it up? Also it's 6.250 thick. My cavity is 6. Was told not to compress fiberglass insulation or it will be useless. Will that little hurt it in any way. They said it is R19.
Thank you

who ever told you compressing insulation would make it useless didn't know what they are talking about.

A 1/4" compression is not going to hurt. Compressing it down to 3" would reduce the R value...maybe by 25-40%. But not ruin it.

You want a vapor barrier if you don't have one.

Is it going to stay exposed on the inside? If so....stop. You do not want unfaced batts.

To hold it in place they typically use wire.

It will be covered as money allows. Not sure with what yet. I like smooth walls or maybe the steel. Osb would give me a place to mount stuff, but don't like the texture

Guess they only have it in 48 inch widths. My space is 8.6 feet, so I guess I'll have to rip off pieces to fill in the rest. Not to decide on interior wall

If you have 8.6 foot spans and plan on covering the walls at some point, maybe you should put up some structure now before you insulate. Except for metal liner, nothing is going to span that kind of distance.

And the same structure can hold up your Fiberglas...

Don't they have proper wrapped insulation for pole buildings ? Plastic is very unforgiving should there be any moisture/ humidity issue ... especially true with fiberglass

What was recommended by the company that built it. I was thinking about puting plastic between the fiberglass and the outside metal
