I am looking for someone to tell me what some of my IH tools are worth, I have a 3/4 in. socket set, with 2 extensions and 18 sockets, and original case. one of the sockets are a mack. (1 1/4) The wratchet is 24 in. long, with a 16 and 8 in extension. I also have some metric and standard wrenches and other IH tools. They were my Grandpas and he got them back around 1978 when he was working at a IH dealer.

Got any pics of the items so we can give you a better idea on what they are worth.

sell all of the random items and keep the completed 3/4 set. You would be surprised at what they would bring. IH collectors are nuts, they will spend big bucks. I sold a few in my time.

I have seen those 3/4" sets go from $500-$800 over the years. With all of the other tools you could maybe get a grand out of them if someone gets in a bidding war.

$1,000 to the right person. Excellent tools made by Wright. I remember seeing the tool displays back in the day. If I would have only known then what I know now.

I'd love to have them, but will probably resist the temptation.

True...look at what they did to the IH Garand market...LOL. I can say that because I'm one of them... :D (Although I don't have an IH Garand )

Same here, I'd love to have them, but then I'd have a set of tools I wouldn't/couldn't use...i'll just have to deal with 3/4" SnapOn's... :bounce:

Don't be spreading rumours,,IH collectors are all dirt poor and generally wait patiently to collect donations of IH equipment to support our hobby. Those socket sets selling for more than I paid for any of my IH trucks is reprehensible.

You can try matching them up with some Wright brand tools and figure out how much new tools would cost less the brand name. Case IH has new tools but they are not the same. You might try comparing the new Case IH tools also. Then try the second hand market like eBay, CL, and other places to find how much people are willing to pay for used IH tools.

Unless you have a better set of 3/4" drive stuff, you should keep them. Even if you never use them, that day may come when you do need them and instead you have to go buy them. Those tools are probably better made then most USA stuff today. Not to mention they aren't that common and it will forever remind you of gramps. I'm sure he'd let you keep them if you asked. And who knows, it ten years they may be antiques worth thousands. Good luck either way!

Sam the Ebay 3/4 set above was mine. $$$$ More money for the slush fund

Nice!

I almost hope I don't come across any. Due to the fact that I will have the dilemma of keeping them for the collection, or selling them to buy tools I will actually use.... Ahhh first world problems.

Thinking about selling my IH combo wrench set, 3/8 thru 1-1/4, bought them when I was working parts at an IH dealer, the last set to come out of the old West Chicago parts depot. I have used a couple of them in a pinch but other than that they have never been out of the pouch or toolbox drawer. Any ideas on a value? I can get photos if needed.

best way is ebay, it'll set the honest price because ih chrome collectors are serious about watching what comes on. imo thats a common set but still reel good seller. bag condition is most important. mine brought $675 at big "d" sale 6-06. in total i sold 800 ih tools.

Thought I'd revive this thread to post some new IH tools I spotted in Princess Auto (Canada's HF store). These are made in Taiwan and prices are in CND. What got my attention is these 2 sets came in metal boxes with the pressed lettering on the lid.

Wonder if it’s re-branded New Holland stuff. IH doesn’t exist on its own anymore, so seems more like a gimmick. I should take a look at what our CaseIH dealer is selling these days. They have a hardware store so they used to have a good selection of various brands. The New Holland dealer only sold New Holland tools last I checked.

For those that don’t know NH and CASEIH sell identical tractors, only difference is the paint and stickers. We like red tractors so we bought a CaseIH :)

I think the IH tools sold at Princess Auto are brought in by Braber Equipment, a local importer. I have seen IH air grease guns at KMS tools. Braber has quite a few IH branded tools.

Even though International Harvester went out of businees in the 80's on the farm side, there is still truck shows around here featuring IH vehicles like Scouts and pickups. Lots of the latest red Case IH equipment on farms.

The bigger Case IH tractors along with the combines have different features than their New Holland counterparts.. A Case IH 530 quad track from a local farm
