Just found this Journal. Somehow missed that this existed as I belong to the H.A.M.B as well. Just a short viewing of the forum on garage issues and I knew that this was a forum for me. I have a new shop that is about to be completed (electrical)There and will be obtaining its' final inspection. Then will come the details of building shelving, workbenches and placing automotive shop equipment on the lower floor and wood working equipment on the upper floor. My office will also be on the upper floor and it needs to have a divising wall built yet to be able to maintain a "clean area" for the necessary electronics of today. The balance of the space top side will be for storage.

As I get more comfortable with the flow of this site, I'll be asking for opinions based on experience to assist me in ideas that will come to mind that I may like to impliment into my shop. I'm attempting to attach some photos of the shop and please understand that it is still in the process of being built. A lot of "junk" still lying about.

There is still a lot to be done around the outside of the shop, such as grading,
crushed rock placed and rolled, a deck built for a "hang out" area, area lighting and the list goes on. Then there are the "war dept.'s" to do list that needs to be incorporated into the scheme of things (priorities:bowdown:).

I'll be lurking most of the time learning and if I can contribute with positives I'll pipe in, otherwise learning will be my mainstay.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Outback Steel Buildings, http://outbacksteelbuildings.com/ They come in two basic styles, Gambrel and Gable. The gable is most likely to be a "western style" barn and in my area there are a couple of them that I'm aware of and mine that is the gambrel.

The claim is that one may erect one on a diy basis, but in my case I elected to have a fellow experienced with Outback buildings and it was worth every penny. I've earned the right to be one of the "old guys", many of my friends didn't make it, and have had major back surgery and climbing ladders and walking roofs are days gone bye. Any questions that may come to mind will be gladly responded to, to the best of my ability. This is a fine building and it costs are less than half of a stick built stucco bldg., at least in my locale. More than you most likely wanted to know, but I get wordy at times.

Popcorn, welcome to GJ from the central area of the state. You live in a nice scenic county. Nice looking building you have going. I can tell you that the community will want more details and pics. You might consider starting a post on your project and update it periodically. We all learn something every day and contribute where we can. Come on in, the water is fine. :bounce:

Thanks agr81 for the tip. I hadn't thought of making it a project post but will consider it when I get the chip out of my own camera (the above photos from the "war dept.'s) and see if I have additional ones that would provide a better idea as to how this thing is put together. My electrical that is underway looks like an electrical schematic on a blueprint. Really professional looking. It's all in conduit w/steel boxes/faceplates and brown outlets & switches. I really dislike ivory/white and grubby looking from working hands.

Can one begin a post and save/edit it before final posting? I'm having difficulty editing my existing posts and I know I just found this site today and I'll learn, but having some advanced knowledge would be advantageous.
