I am guessing that this item is a test to gauge reaction to a hand tool with the Snap-on name on it made in China. Please speak your mind. Kenosha is listening.

Not to hijack the thread, But is there a tool company here in the US that doesnt stamp there name on a Imported tool? I realize it would be near impossible to search the entire catalog (Im sure this would be a good job for Merk) But i am curious. This question is not intended to bash Snap on, I proudly own mucho dollars worth of there product.

ok then.....

HEY SNAP ON, DON'T PUT YOUR NAME ON AN IMPORTED OR ALLIED LINE TOOL. THAT'S WHAT THE NAME BLUE POINT IS FOR:thumbup:

THE NAME SNAP ON SHOULD ONLY BE USED ON TOOLS MADE BY SNAP ON!
DON'T DILLUTE YOUR BRAND NAME.

Well said Krusty! I'm with you, Snap-On is synonymous with quality USA MADE hand tools. If that changes, no more purchases for me.

Very, very disappointing.

I would never buy it. I would rather buy a wood handle USA made Craftsman or USA made Estwing over this gaudy trinket any day.

If Snap on keeps this **** up I won't be buying any more new tools from them. Their Williams line has to be watched, as they have some made in USA and some globaly. I quit buying Williams stuff already. I figured if any company could stay "made in the USA" it would be Snap on. I guess not.

I agree, I cant wait to receive my Wright 1/2 drive socket set i scored from Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260500824587&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123 If everything meets or exceeds my expectations i will quickly be sourcing some other sets and Wrench sets. There is a cool write up in this forum comparing the flank drive to the wright grip and was rather interesting looking at the comparison of the 2 different wrenches.

Not to worry, it's built to Snap On's specifications.

Any takers?

Who cares if 1/2 of you walk away from SO for this?! They are probably 3x profit margins building in China. Net result - more money in the SO execs pockets.

Now some of their sockets are made in China?
This is going downhill faster than I thought it would.

What adds insult to injury is that the stuff is priced as if it were made in USA or Western Europe.

You get a warranty, but so what. Might as well buy a Proto.

^^^I've bought about 10 things in the last year that were BP made in USA. Wrench racks, bolt extractors, mirrors, magnet, claw, parts cleaner brush. Just bought some GripOn welding clamps that were labeled BP. Those are Spanish, and they're really very good. So it seems that BP continues to be a vehicle, in part, for rebranded American stuff.

not bad looking but i am sure the original this knocked off of is plenty cheaper with out the name.........as for kenosha listening, i learned a long time ago to research my purchases and could care less where it's made, as long as the quality and warranty is there, i'll buy it.........to be honest tho, i really haven't needed to buy anything in about 10 years as what i have now serves me fine............and really , if ya need a claw hammer, ya buy an estwing or comprable...........never could understand the brand loyalty thing even as a kid .........

I just went to their website and posted a comment about it. Maybe if enough of us do, we can make a difference.

Snap on better take a look at MAC TOOLS. Keep pushing that overseas made **** like MAC does and you will quickly ruin a good brand name. But that is what it's all about right. Run up the profits as high as possible and then sell. Run the company in the ground that took 100 years to build just so a few could profit. GREAT IDEA SNAP ON.

Couldn't even ask Vaughn eh? I think they're officially there now. China, that is.

I have two blue point "hammer" type items, a removable head mallet and a brass hammer, both are claimed to be "Country of Origin USA"

I always thought BluePoint was Taiwan, Snap On was USA, and all others was from where ever... But to see Snap On "red" items made in China is disgraceful.. If I were to purchase anything SO branded, and find it it was Chinese origin, I would subsequently return it with am angry note and a thread to defect to SK or Matco.

Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Ireland, UK, I'm ok with... Japan too. Korea, and Taiwan on lower end.. but China, Vietnam, India and Mexico are 3rd world cheap labor and I refuse to support the CEO's bonuses and the hedge fund managers on wall street's lifestyle.

This is a real claw hammer right here -

TBM14_large.jpg

btw, I have the Tibone Mini-14 and I can say without a doubt this is the absolute best hammer made. This is the original $1000 Hammer that the US Dept. of Defense was buying I'm sure! But at the deeply discounted non-goverenment price of $249! :lol_hitti
