I am new to the GF, joining last week. As I learn how to navigate the site I hope to be an active participant. I am a retired mechanical engineer and have been a "gearhead" since high school. My favorite toy growing up was my Gilbert Erector Set, which I still have.
My main interests are Musclecars and to a lesser extend, machinists and mechanic tools and shop equipment. I recently moved from the metro NYC area to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, VA. My current garage/workshop measures 24 X 30 with clear 13 foot ceilings and is fully insulated. It has about 90,000 lumins of LED lighting, a mini-split HVAC system (heat & AC) and a 100 amp subpanel.
I have been going to garage sales and estate sales for close to 40 years building up my collection. The metro NYC area had a very robust garage/estate sale community due to the population density and age of residents. Not so much in Virginia. Also in the 80's and 90's I searched auto salvage yards picking many desirable auto parts to help with restoration projects and to sell to support the hobby.
In my next post I will outline my tool collection and shop equipment.
Thank You
