I have this for my car- http://amzn.com/B00I608BJ8. It holds great in a moving car, should be perfect for your use.
After seeing your post, I'll likely get another to use on my workbench as well

altghough i am getting a new phone in feb and think i'm going to try something new. the velcro allows me to mount in my car, truck, toolbox, or anywhere else for cheap.
Good luck with that, I have tried that with mounting other stuff and in hot weather the adhesive melted. It dripped down the dash and redried, huge pita to clean up.
i've been using the velcro for 7 years. even used it on my last deployment in '08 seeing temps of 115+. maybe you had a bad batch of adhesive>?

I use one of these. I mounted it upside down so you can pull it out with the charging cord attached. The spring holds it in place.
I just bought one of these. Will post review later.
