remember, The Chinese Build To The Specs That The Manufacturer Specifies

Is that why Dorman freeze plugs from China don't fit in small block Chevies anymore? (Machinist said they are loose, fall out. Dorman told them to use more sealant or possibly JB Weld.)

anyone have any clue how often they add items to their page?

Not sure, but I bought my impact gun here last sping around this time.

So I got my hose reels, they boths had a little damage to them. They are still useable, they appear to have been damaged before leaving IR, as one of the boxes had a hole that was covered by the other box. The damage is not bad, chipped paint and the metal is bent alittle. All that said these things are huge, they appear to be designed for industrial use. Wish I would have bought a few more.

Got my 2 piece filter/reg/lube combo today and I'm very happy.
Lubricator had some oil in it, but doesn't show major signs of usage.
Might have to pickup another combo for the other side of the garage or maybe just as a spare.
Awesome deal

My oiler had oil in it as well. I was thinking maybe they ran oil through it as part of some kind of quality assurance testing before it was sent out. Fine with me, I'm tired of getting things that don't work out of the box. Seem like maybe IR is testing things as part of the manufacturing process.

Just grabbed 2 of the 3/8'' Piggyback oiler/filter/regulator. One for my 20 gal compressor, and another spare.

Got my 3/8" piggy back hooked up. Set to 120 psi, drops over 40 psi while tool (impact) is running down to 80 psi. My "high flow" 1/4 regulator that come with my compressor drops about 15 psi. What's the deal?

Got 7 piggybacks in today. I ordered one more 3/8" one for my blast cabinet. I paid more for my one F/R unit than I did for all 7 piggybacks. Thanks to the OP .

Which filter is it? The 5 micron or the 0.3 micron? The 0.3 micron is going to be restrictive.

I'm running a 1/2 impact with the 5 micron at 90 psi, and I do see the needle drop momentarily to about 65. But I don't know if maybe it's just an inaccurate tiny gauge or something that jumps like that. I noticed the rapid drop of the needle as well. And my impact only is about 4.5 cfm, with only 5 foot leader hose from the compressor to the filter, and 50 foot hose to impact, so I should have plenty of flow end-to-end. Impact wrench seems to work fine.

Maybe that regulator is just so you "regulate" or set a maximum air pressure that is going to the tools. The gauge has just a pinhole inlet. So maybe the purpose of the gauge is just to set the maximum output. And when you are using the tools the needle just drops and is inaccurate. Maybe you need to get one without the built in gauge and get one with the large 1/4 or 3/8 fitting and put a large external gauge to accurately measure psi drop.

This is all just a guess on my part. But looking at the pinhole size inlet of the built in gauge and the small size, I don't think it is really intended to be accurate, I think it is just to set the maximum psi output to the tool.

You are supposed to set the regulator while air is flowing through it, ideally the tool you are going to be using, but you can do it with just an open air line. That is how it accurately can regulate the pressure the tool is getting. Setting a regulator without air flowing through it is pointless. Pressure without flow is very different from pressure while flowing, as you found out.

Has anybody found a "service manual" for the 2000 series F/R/L's? I know they sell replacement parts, but I got a few things in mind I'd like to confirm.
Stupid question no doubt, but I assume the 1/8" NPT on the front of the PiggyBack units with no gauges is to install a gauge of my own?

Yup. I got one w/o a guage b/c I wanted it for HVLP purpose and needed a lower scale guage.

Got my new regulator in a few days ago. This thing is a beast!

I really wanted one of those hose reels but missed out. The 50 ft one would have been perfect!

I sold my two FRL's. One on ebay one on CL. I came out ahead about $55 after everything. I'm not impressed with these units, they have a large about of pressure drop.

That hose reel looks huge! I should've gone for that thing.

They make mounts for them. The mounts cost twice as much as we paid for the piggybacks!

There is a plastic ring on top. You unscrew that and slide the mount down and put the ring back.

I am going to buy some angle aluminum and make the mounts for mine. One of the online PDFs has the mount dimensions.

Info at Page 69 in this PDF. http://www.ingersollrandproducts.com/am-en/DocumentViewer/aro-flo-frl-catalog-aro-flo-frlcatalog

For mounts, I just use galvanized pipes for inlet/outlet then two hole brackets around the galvanized pipe. Cheap and effective. With a flexible hose connecting from the galvanized to the compressor, no worries of vibration.

I originally ordered a Piggyback, but then between no gauge and ??? mounting, I ordered a seperate combo unit the day after which came with mounts and a regulator with gauge.
Cheaper then buying the mount, and heck probably cheaper then fabbing a mount up too. :lol_hitti
