Bought this toolbox about 20 years ago at a garage sale. After reading and looking around I guess the general opinion is that its not a real mac box just another brand rebadged.....opinions welcome

If someone rebadged it, they put a lot of effort into it. In my opinion, based off the detail i think it should be real. But who cares if its real, does it work well? Thats the only thing that matters.

Inspect your box with a close eye for little details to see if you find anything that indicates Mac, stamps, slides, casters etc. Might find something

Looks exactly like my old Husky box that was supposedly made in the same Canadian factory as the lower end Macs. Looks legit for a lower end model Mac. Is it ball bearing slides?

Mac Tools has been the title sponsor at the Gatornationals for a long time. Ive seen similar boxes with similar decals. Looks real to me.

Yes ball bearing slides and I have the drawers loaded and have never had a problem. The reason this all started was that the drawer pulls are getting pretty worn and I was gonna purchase new ones but thats hard to do without knowing the maker..

I'll have to check my box tomorrow, I know it has one sticker in the bottom box.

It's not made BY Mac, but was made FOR Mac, as the Economizer Series.

IIRC, the OEM was Beach out of Canada. Who also made the Husky versions.

Still a nice little box.

I think it's real, might have been made for Mac by Waterloo. Looks a lot like my Waterloo Traxx set, which is also showing wear on the drawer pulls.

Same here with my old Husky box... I've seen Beach mentioned for it as well, but I also remember it looking much more like the Waterloo.

That one has a nicer looking end handle than mine, must have changed it in the later 90s or so.

You've had it for 20 years why worry now?

I guess I was getting the itch for something new but started researching new boxes and almost fell out of my chair at the prices...So instead I thought maybe i could just spruce up the one I have and just add a sidebox for some extra space...

100% correct.

I bought the Husky version about 15 years ago, and when I unpacked it, there was a "MAC Tools Predelivery Inspection Checklist" inside one of the drawers, and stickers inside that indicated it was manufactured by Beach of Canada.

I was going to say the same thing. It's not made my MAC but made for and sold by MAC.
Mfg is Beach like said above.

Lower end of the MAC line but still a good box
