THis one was a steal.I bid more on it but got a message from ebay saying I was outside the allowed countries to bid.The seller had stated in the add he would ship outside the US but he did not get my email in time to let me bypass the ebay restrictions.

I gave a green handled, long, non flex head ratchet to a friend of mine for his birthday. It was part of a promotion. It came with one of the "girlie" plastic tankards. I would have kept it for myself if I had known it would be worth that much.
I have one of the blue handled F836 ratchets. I saw one on ebay for $150. NUTS!

Forget the ratchet.. we need pictures of this tankard! :lol_hitti

Just go find him tommorow and be like.. how would you like a brand new dual 80 version of that ratchet? Give me that one back.. LOL you sell his.. pocket some cashola and still buy him a new ratchet.

Seriously people are insane sometimes... its all about timing. I think sometimes people see "oh there's one I want" and they start bidding and never go back and see if anothers been listed, etc. I've seen one item sell for $50 and the same item ends 2 days later for $15. Same with regular auctions though. I bought a snap on drop light with the 15' cord at one auction. Well they had 5 of them (shop auction) first one went for $60.. second one $58.. third one $45.. fourth was down to $30 and I paid $25 for the last one. LOL. I just watched and saw there were 3-4 guys who were bidding beyond the auctioneer calling it at $20 and figured my law of averages. Ebay isn't as easy and you can't see the other guys "auction face" as he rocks back thumbing his wad of cash in his pocket doing quick math and figuring how much his wife is gonna beat him if he bids any more than he already has on this junk. :lol_hitti

justinmc,

I still haven't figured out how to put pictures on this site, but up to 1994, Snap on issued "calender girl" promotions. The plastic tankard in question has a calender girlon it.
The Feminazis and PC people ended that.
So, that ratchet is well used and beat up now, but I doublt he woould part with it.
I was at an auction a couple of months ago and you are corrrect. People get caught in the moment and bid on stuff that they normally would not look at if it had been given to them. I am like you. I figure what the item is worth to me and set a limit not to go over. If I don't win, there will be another.
I know this is somewhat off thread, my appoligies.

I am shocked by this price, it not even in mint condition. Guess someone want to replace a worn or lost one, thinking this one is going to be used at work. Snap-On really needs to bring the hard handles back. Hope everyone sends the auction link to Snap-on, this price has to grab Corporates attention.

Yeah.. "NEW" Snap On "premium edition" classic handles.. then they'll sell them at a 20-40% margin over the standard stuff. LOL

Don't do that... dangit. LOL I've been watching those getting ready to pull the trigger since I can't ever seem to find a single orange T15 to replace my missing one....... oh and I don't own any green stuff. LOL :lol_hitti

I'm sure anyone who was interested in already watching though.. and waiting.. to quickly bid way past what I'd pay for them. LOL His shipping is high too.

^^^ Obviously, the craze is NOT over.

Actually thats the "old style" hard handles.. and they didn't do those in too many color variations. So from a collector standpoint I'd say that makes sense.

i think everyone would be happy if snap on went back to the rainbow of colors they use to make.

I saw one of those in Pink awhile back bring something like $180. They did a special edition "mothers day" one last year that had MOM engraved on the side. The one in the auction however is a standard production piece and I really don't know when (time period) they sold them but they do seem to be one of the more rare colors if not the rarest. The new ones were a lighter pink if memory serves.

If somebody wants a brand new gray handled set my dealer has one sitting on his trucks ceiling. He also has a green something and some other such stuff.

BTW I like the new handles more than the older ones.

Instict handles are great and a huge improvement over the screwdriver handles. Never will understand why someone would want to make their ratchet handle bigger than the ratchet its on nor why a square plastic grip is more desireable than a cushioned ergonomically friendly round one. Then again i use my stuff, dont see too many photos of newer well used hard handle ratchets around here.

i agree with you on the instincts i love my instincts but on my ratchets i prefer the hard handles because they are easier to clean and dont get torn apart as easy.before i switched over to hard handles my soft handles were all torn up and nasty and i only had them for a few weeks my dealer was cool and tracked down a bunch of hard handles for me.

I love it when someone posts something that has been talked about before and everyone jumps on them for not using the search, now he digs up a just less than one month old thread and he gets it too.
