There could be 50k there given the number of drawers plus the end locker but, you would have to ask for the detailed photos he says you can ask for. I know Ebay listings aren't cheap when it comes to listing pictures but, he should take the time to clean the tools up, organize them, and take pictures of each and every drawer's contents. I mean if you were trying to sell a car on Ebay Motors, you would post pictures inside and out to maximum the cash.
As for his attitude, he's probably just a disgruntled mechanic after working for GM for 25 years. I know I would be.:bounce:
I think if he has as many tools as he says, he could make the $50K selling in smaller lots. It would cost more and take awhile but, it could be done. Perhaps a forum member living in Rhode Island could take a field trip to inspect the tools and post the results here.

You gotta love how people want big money for stuff but don't want to go through the trouble it takes (cleaning and selling separately) to get good money, plus in this economy who's got 50k laying around to dump on an incomplete list of tools and tool boxes in God knows what condition.

Amen. I love this "too much to list" bullsh/t. You want to sell this stuff for fifty thousand dollars, but you don't want to go through the effort to list what you're selling?! Plus, you got a crappy feedback rating?

Uh...yeah, I don't think so. :monkey_po

Even if the other drawers were full of good tools, I'd be afraid they magically wouldn't be there when I went to pick it up. Just like you guys, I'd want a detailed list of EVERYTHING in there before I even thought about it.

Also; pickup locally only, but location is listed as "New England Area" :wtf: New England can be very large, depending on your location/definition. 2-3 day trip to retrieve an unspecified amount of tools which you've never seen before from a guy with a bad attitude (and probably a bad temper) and bad feedback? Imagine loading that with him either hovering or helping!:scared::eek:

Or better yet, some of his buddies helping...:shocking:

I was shocked to receive a reply from the seller. Below is his reply with respect to my questions pertaining to the listing:

i am battling with the buyer who was responsible for shipping costs and has not sent full payment for shipping. when he sends full payment, i will send the bike. if you read my ad, you would know to call or email for more pics. there are over 80 pics and ebay only allowed what you see.there is, by snap on's prices, $26,000.00 just in boxes. this is full of tools not parts and nuts and bolts like alot of other people have.

Seller also states he has 80 more photo's of the tools in question I have asked him to send them to my e-mail account. Upon receipt of said photo's I would appreciate those in the know to place a value on the tools . . .

I'm betting you never get picture one from him. And on the off chance you do, they'll be lousy like the ones he posted.

This screams SCAM. Run away. Refusing to use an escrow account for the transaction this shady is just plain ignorant.

I got pics, but they came in 4 emails with 15 attachments each. I had them sent to my junk gmail account and its taking forever to download. Ill post up later once I have them all. So far its a couple of rivet guns and some cordless tools hanging on the locker door.

This is what 50K gets you . . . He has also indicated that I should tell him what I believe he has in value here. My IMO excluding the box is no more than 2500-4200 in tools.

He indicates that is all the contents . . . Am I off base with my quote? I am not 100% intimate with SO pricing, but can't see all of these tools breaking $4500.00. Mind you I don't know what's in the plastic box's so if it's a scanner, or diagnostic tool that can definitely up the price very quickly.

My take is based on what he stated is that after 25 years of service I would have expected 9999999999999 more hand tools in all various sizes.

Insight . . .

Between EBay and what Teken posted, that's pictures of 18 drawers. A quick count shows about 50 drawers plus the big side cabinet. This guy is dreaming?

I told this guy to send me all 80 photo's, and what does he send me, 12! Now I don't pretend to be a rocket scientist but if I was asking for 50K for something and wanted to show people what I had and how serious of a collection I had on hand . . .

I would do what ever was in my powers to show the potential buyer what was on hand . . . After looking at some of the other tools on hand he is definitely going up in price, but whether it hits the 50K mark I dunno . . .

Keeping in mind I am stating as the tools only, and after pricing out a Matco box of similar size I was up to 20K for just the box. Don't know if there is 30K worth of tools there to be honest . . .

I honestly dont see there being 30k worth of tools when purchased new. And lets not forget, those tools are used and most appear to be heavily worn/abused. The most expensive things I see are the large assortment of wrenches. Its just too much money to drop on used tools in one large purchase. If someone has 50k to drop, they're going to buy new. not worn out ****.

I kinda feel bad for wasting his time...oh well, thats the price you pay for doing business on the webz

That's what I'm thinking. If someone has 50k in CASH he can just spend on tools he probably has the money to buy new and probably would.
