I generally buy most of my bulk SAE fasteners from Tractor Supply, but they carry very few metric fasteners. Does anyone know of an inexpensive source for bulk metric fasteners (bolts, machine screws, nuts, etc.)?
Are there any industrial suppliers around you? Most of them are cheaper than buying at box stores, and you generally get much better quality.
Fastenal is also a pretty reasonable place to get run of the mill metric hardware

The nearest industrial supplier to me is actually quite pricey! I agree the box stores like Lowes and HD are way overpriced for small quantities of miscellaneous metric fastners, but for SAE fasteners TSC is pretty cheap .... Grade 2 bolts/nuts/washers are $1.99/lb.
I don't use large quantities of metric stuff, but I like to keep a wide variety (though not necessarily a large quantity of any one size) of fasteners on hand for the miscellaneous repairs that always seem to come along.

boltdepot.com. Fair prices and fast shipping. My goto when i need quantities.

Why not auction it off? You'd potentially be able to get more for it that way than scrap I'd think.Holy ****. I am in the middle of cleaning out a warehosue full of metric fastners that are heading to scrap.... Shipping is the issue but I am talking about pallets full of this stuff. all metric Upstate NY
Wonder why they're so set on the scrap route? The original purchaser of the inventory is low key and our strict orders were to scrap. I have pleaded with them to allow some sort of salvage company to come in. So far no go. I also came across a pallet of underbench draws still in the box. Working that one hard for you guys honest!

Next time you go to the junkyard, just fill up your pockets! I do save all the fasteners when removing a part or if I remove some from a project.
How do you define your bulk needs?
10 of each fastener size for 25 different sizes or 100 to 200 of each fastener for 5 different sizes?
Most local industrial suppliers will set you up with an account or will allow you to order and prepay and then call upon delivery if the order is big enuff. But then you are looking for at least 50 of every size and more for M6 and below.
Again, bags of 5 and 10 bolts in lots of various sizes is NOT how the bulk buying system works. That's what hdwre and the Hillman fastner bins are for. Hell, you can order in bulk from Hillman via your dealer and just ask for the knocked down price.
Then you have to factor in grade and finish. Then you have std thread and fine thread.
It's not like buying cashews , peanuts and pistascios at Costco sadly. More like buying coffee in bulk.
