Seems like a decent gun for the price. I, like bluebolt, bought the kit that came with 2 batteries, a charger, and a carrying case. Works well, took off lugnuts on my car pretty easily.

Just bought the Craftsman 1/2" impact last Friday Aug 28th, picked it up at the store after getting an unexpected mortage escrow refund in the mail.

wtf, mate? how did you buy one already? the web site says it's not even avalable for preorder yet? in either kit form or add on form.

did they have any bare tools?

I didn't look for any so don't know. They had the kits in the main aisle where you see the specials. Actually only stopped there for about 10 minutes, new record for me in tool section LOL. Was tempted to get the drill kit with TWO lithium-ion batteries, charger and the little radio for $150 as well. That special was over last Saturday unfortunately.

im asuming the radio is made a lot like my little ryobi one, if thats the case I say go get it when it goes on special.

I love mine, it lasts FOREVER (easily a couple 8 hr work days) on the compact Li-Ion 18v battery.

and the craftsman has AM so it beats mine right there.

if the radio was anything like dewalts radio, meaning if it charged the battery as well as ran off the battery and had a cd player i would be all over it like white on rice. but it's neither of those things.

i called my sears store yesterday and they didn't have the impact at all. this morning i saw the little pre-order icon on the web site and jumped on it. i thought it will ship out on the 10'th but if the previous gentleman already purchased one maybe it'll ship out sooner.

does the craftsman have a mp3 input, My ryobi has one, and a clip on the back to hold the mp3 player. Came with the cable too. I havent even put a CD in my trucks cd player, so CD capabilities are worthless for me. I also have 2 chargers, I really just wanted portable tunes.

I called my local sears, said they're back ordered and the earliest they can get me one is october 1st thursday, I declined, I'll get mine when its in stock. How do you like yours? 150 for 2 li-ion batteries and the radio is even a good deal, let alone the drill, damn it, I miss all the good stuff...

Just bought the Craftsman 1/2" impact last Friday Aug 28th, picked it up at the store after getting an unexpected mortage escrow refund in the mail. Didn't use it for a real job yet but tried it out on my 1966 F100. With a fresh battery it had no problem taking off and reinstalling the lug nuts of two wheels, it never ran down the battery. This uses the same battery as their other 19.2 volt tools so for me I always have plenty of batterys. Craftsman club price was $150 but that special is over. Came with two batteries, charger and nice carrying bag. It seems decent but it's not the Snap-On with 400 Ft/lb of torque. Plus these lugs were properly torqued on with torque wrench, not overtorqued by the bozo at Pep Boys with an air impact set on maximum. Those idiots torqued the lugs on my 2003 F150 Lightning so tight that I had to use my biggest breaker bar with hernia inducing force to get them off. Had a flat tire at my house, lucky it wasn't on the road because I would never have got them off with the regular lug wrench. Went back and broke them all loose and retorqued them properly with a torque wrench, they were all super tight. Will try to keep you all advised of it's performance and durability.

how much is it regular price with 2 batteries? does it come with a hard case or carrying bag? do you like it? worth the $??

I think the regular impact kit pice is $169. It comes with a rectangular bag that has pockets for the battery and charger. I like it so far but havn't really used it yet. I was getting ready to make a C3 tool purchase with 2 batteries anyways since some of mine are 3 plus years old and getting weak. Time will tell on if it's worth it.

They had some lithium ion batteries that were compatible with the normal 19.2V C3 system... you can purchase the batteries separately but they require a new style charger; they sell a set with a battery and a charger. If you bought 2 batteries and charger... the price gets up there and I would consider the cost effectiveness of this route. Uh, Oh! Read the reviews before you buy these upgrade batteries/chargers; doesn't sound good, maybe they are having some quality control issues?

The description only says DIE HARD batteries and does not say lithium ion-whatcha think?

That's correct the regular batteries come in the kit, I was talking about the drill kit they had there which came with two litium ion's for around $150. Looks like they are having problems with the lithium batteries, let someone else be the guinea pig until they get them sorted out.

The li-ion batteries do look like they need work, glad I don't have any. I don't IMO think lithium is worth the cost. JMO I'll stick with shorter run time for 1/5 of the cost.

Go to my links for the batt, charger, batt/charger kit and read the "reviews"; they tell it all with people's real world experience with these products; doesn't sound good! Caveat emptor and all that good stuff!

when you read reviews on the internet you have to take into consideration that people are stupid. take everything with a grain of salt. altho i don't know how you can screw up putting a battery in a charger. i imagine what happened is they had a bad batch from the factory, that store wound up with them and, as luck would have it, the guy ended up getting 2 or 3 of them in an exchange. theres still plenty of other reviews that suggest they're better than the nicads. i was given a lithium battery/charger combo as a wedding gift a month ago. i've run the battery down untill the tool quit and charged it back up a few times and so far so good. it was a gift so if it turns out to be a piece of **** i'm not out any money. i have a brand new nicad i got with the chainsaw i bought a few weeks ago. one of these days should do a test to see which will last longer. i am pleased that the new stile charger will run off of a modified sign wave power inverter. my old nicad charger burned up when i plugged it into the inverter. it made some buzzing sound and went *POP*.

Stopped by the Sears last Thursday, they had only one 1/2 impact left on display. I think there were around 8 when I first saw them.

Well used the cordless impact today to remove the 9" center section I was selling out of a 1977 Ford truck. Used an older but freshly charged battery. Worked great, removed wheels, axle retaining bolts and the accessible pumpkin nuts, also used to reinstall the axles and wheels. Took everything off fine, plenty of battery power left.

what the hell is up with sears?? i pre ordered the tool on 9/4. the order status said it would be avalible on 9/10. on 9/10 the order status was changed to say it would be availible 9/10-9/14. order status still says 9/10-9/14 2 1/2 weeks later. the avalibility at our kansas city store on the web site keeps changing. one day it will say 3-5 days, next day it will say 4-6 days, a week later it will go up to 8/10 days. the store accociates have never even heard of the tool, and sears' customer care just said "your order is still processing and has not yet shipped. Please allow more time for your order to ship". no ****? i know it hasn't processed yet. i want to know why it hasn't processed and when i can expect it to process. i'm not so much upset about the wait, i'm pissed off that they can't or won't tell me when the tool will be avalible. if they would simply say "hey we'll have it in 2 weeks and we'll ship it out to you then", and live up to that, i would be happy. Yeah, my store has em as a kit with 2 batteries and a charger. I don't need 2 more batteries and a charger or I would buy it. I thought about buying the kit and selling the batteries and charger on craigslist but I doint think I'd get 60 dollers out of them.

finally got it today. it removed 2 of the lugs on my f250 without any problem. they were torqued to 140ftlbs about 6 months ago. i went ahead and put a video on youtube. i don't have access to a torque wrench or a jack so i just took off 2 lug nuts. here's some eye candy.

I am happy with my Milwaukee, especially after upgrading to Li-Ion. The first two NiCAD batteries didn't do that well though.

yeah, the lithium battery is interchangable with the nicad on all the c3 tools and vise versa. the only thing you cant do is charge the lithium battery with the old style c3 charger. you have to use the new style universal charger. both lithium and nicad batteries can be charged in the new style charger. also, the new style charger can be used with a modified sign wave power inverter. the old style can't, i burned one up to find that out.:shocking:

I have been impressed with mine so far, much easier than dragging a air hose outside. Changed some tires on a buddies 2003 Cobra Mustang in the rain yesterday, glad we had the impact to make it faster. I don't think the drag radials we put on helped his wet weather traction any though LOL.
