Take this as constructive criticism. That is a TERRIBLE waste of space. A thread on what to do with a narrow bookshelf would have been better.

I find taking the middle out, and stacking them on each other and in the box they come in to be the most efficient so far, plus, if it's in a box they're easy to carry with one hand and move.

I've located a battery rack from an old friend. Just need to get some time to pick it up.

I keep mine on the floor in a corner of the garage sitting on plywood...no way would I put them on a shelf like that - much less one that you have to reach UP to grab one...one slip-up and kiss your foot or toes goodbye ... sorry that's nuts

I just put them in the bottom of a "locker style" cabinet. I seem to have plenty of storage in my garage now that I cleaned out my Snap-on tool box, installed Newage cabinets and installed shelving over the doors and windows....

A pair of shorts and a pair of tall ones live on the garage floor semi permanent so you use them. I think if I put them in the original packaging it would be tempting to skip them for the daily use of the shop. The other dozen or so are stacked without disassembly, no it isn't pretty but works fine.

Been thinking about this. I have some pallet racks. I am going to look into using hooks and hanging the stands on the bottom side of the wood shelf units.

Shopnut wins, I would much rather pick up shop stands than lift them down.

The timber anti skid/scratch feet are a nice touch to boot...

Geez, I must be a dumb hick. I just line mine up against a wall. They don't take a lot of room, and I magically have never 'busted a toe' on them...

I store mine under my HF 20 ton press. Some behind with others in front.

You can kinda get the idea from this pic. Only one I have that shows what I do.....

My space is limited with only 1 door so I used the dead space in the corner to add some shelves for them

I'm with you. Lined up against a wall. Brooms, dust pan, body panel stand, hose, etc all hanging on the wall above.
Never been injured

The under stairs drawer is great. Very well done.

I believe we need to start giving out an annual Garage Journal award for the perfect garage. The garage has to be
imaculate. We'll call the award "The Incredibly Clean Transfer Implement". TICTI for short. It will be a major award.
Maybe we can get some actor to present it. I would like to nominate shopnut & his under stair axle stand drawer for
the very first of these awards.

Here is my under stairs jack stand drawer...

Yeah, I enjoyed watching Monk. The phrase "It looks like Monk's garage" is a compliment
in my circle of friends. That phrase has never been used about my poor garage. Someday...

Put this together with light gauge angle to get the jack stands off the floor and take advantage of the unused space between the 2 garage doors.

I keep my under hoist stands upside down hanging high on the wall and the same for the Jack stands.

Quite a few good ideas. I built my workbench all out of 3/4" plywood, shelf included to store my chopsaws and jack stands in, to keep the dust off them. Very well could see drawer slides to just slide them out. Also want to do the plywood on the bottom eventually.

Did you have an Erector Set as a kid?

haha. nope sure didn't

I had the angle lying around from my high lift conversion i did to my garage door. went from standard garage door opener and std opening door to jack shaft opener and high lift garage door.

freed up a lot of over head room with that and got rid of the "jungle gym" look it had before.
