JC, what did you cook for the rest of the family?

Bob it's funny you say that, the wife was out of town & and the grand daughters (that live with us) were at their mothers so it was just me and #2 son but by the time everyone got home there was more than enough even #3 son came over and took a rack back to his house :shocking: and we still had a couple left overs.

I just wanted to smoke something didn't really make a meal plan. thankfully the wife got home in time to do that part. I raised her well :lol_hitti

Man wish that fan was the FCGJ gathering door prize. Look forward to your review.

Now let’s talk about that ladder setup. Way to go! Perfect. Hope you were wearing the proper Florida Safety Shoes.

Watch a all talking about ? Didn't you all know chevy made scaffolding?:lol_hitti
In that ladder set up you stand more of a chance of falling getting in the back of the truck:lol_hitti

Two questions:
Was the truck in park or did you leave in neutral so you could grab a truss and move your scaffold?

How many times did you have to get down and off scaffold to get just one more tool?:lol_hitti

Look great!

This weekend will be the real test but so far from being out there in the evenings its keeping the place cool. I was happy with how stable the ladder / scaffolding was. As far as safety shoes er flip flops all ways.
Funny story last weekend we took the race car to the track, i went thru tech wearing shorts and flip flops, tech inspecter stares at me for a minute then says. "look the shorts have to go long pants only but the flip flops are ok" I just cracked up.

I was not the one up on ladder and it did get moved around a bit but no one was brave enough to be on ladder higher than 2nd step while doing so. as far as tools #3 son was driving truck while #2 was on ladder which left me handing tools. there was 1 moment when the 2x6 with the fan mount attached fell from ceiling striking the left bed side of truck. good thing the owner is a body man :lol_hitti

well just want all to know i have been busy. But its been an interesting few weeks around here. :shocking:

Sunday fathers day Nick and I are in the shop working when we heard a strange noise we both looked out side and saw nothing. about 2 minutes later Axel (my Weim) went off barking at the fence by the empty lot. I looked didn't see any thing and called the dog off. Less than 2 minutes later I see 2 County K9 cops cruise down my street which is a dead end. I started walking towards the street and stop the 1st K9 unit told him what Axel did.
Long story short some guy stabbed a woman that lives in a house behind my shop and did come across the fence behind me. They caught him after about an hour but not near me.

the funny part was my #3 son came over to say Happy fathers day and when he turned on the street it was full of cop cars and K9 units with about 8 parked in front of my house. all he could think of was "what did the old man do now?" :bounce:

My kids know me so well :shocking:

BTW the pics aren't very good but you get the idea

Glad he kept on trucking and away from ya.

You can always trust your dog.

Good thing cops didn't come in your shop and see the bra hanging on the sign:lol_hitti

And then we have the Hawk story :shocking: Ya'll ain't going to believe this But
here it is. Last Saturday afternoon Axel was keeping all his attention on 2 young hawks in the trees. I good with this gives me time to get stuff done. One of them was eating something, Well it finished and flew over to neighbors shed roof. Axel followed. Well bout this time Nick comes to the door sees the hawk fly off the shed and Axel jump and pick it out of the air.I think its tail not sure.Axel brigs bird over but still 30-30 yards away and sets bird down. I tell him leave it as he pokes it with his nose. I called him off it took a few minutes to figure out WTF happened it did figure out how to fly away.

Now more to that story Sunday the shop was wide open and we were installing a new flag pole for the house come back into the shop and axel is barking at the ceiling. I'm not sure if its revenge or what but that damm bird's dad maybe mom stayed in the shop for close to 7 hours and I have hawk **** everywhere

I'm not going to lie i have been slacking around the shop lately :shocking: But time to update. About 2 years ago the empty lot next door sold. I wished i could have bought it but I did not have 100k+ sitting around :( the good news is what he had to pay vs what I paid for mine made me very happy
. The other good news is the new owner is a gear head and really nice guy not quite a year ago he started clearing the lot. He did his best not to remove the largest oak tree on the lot but there was no way to fit the house around it.

here are a few pics

so for the past 6 or so months it has pretty much stayed the same. Now he is ready to start building and yes he is building a detached garage and yes i have told him he needs to join this forum  .
So now it was time to do a bit more cleanup i had turned him on to the guy i use for tree work he is a friend of my sons so he knows we will work with him and that way the price is very reasonable that way plus most time we just cut them up into fire wood. I had told Mike aka new neighbor that when he wanted to do the back fence line we would all do it together and convince Tree man we needed to rent a high lift we got lucky and rented a 25' for the weekend for 200.00 which we split. i also had 4 laurel oaks that needed to be dropped before he started to build so we did that and just did all the high up stuff.

I didn't get a lot of pics as i had to work the Saturday they did most of it

Shorty thats the cool thing with this new neighbor we both like the trees. Plus if you notice in 1 of the pics there other neighbor just put up a big white fence. we both felt it took away from the openness
He also loves Axel so so far we have it covered

I ain't done yet :bounce: The tree man also has a couple of bobcats and other implements of destruction and while i really wanted a paver drive from the house slab to the shop the $$$$$$ were just not there. So they all said use Asphalt fines its cheap and works good. So i went for it 16 yards was $870.00 bobcat work was $700.00,

They tell me that in about 1 month of driving on it and heat it will get very hard. In 2 weeks i can all ready see it doing just that ..:)
i will not say that i'm extremely happy but the shop so far the shop is staying much cleaner
.

The looks good and much cheaper than pavers. What nice about going that route is you can expand it and make more parking. If wanted you could rake it smoother and rent a compacting roller.

The hawk story is great. Is that quad lowered? It looks really low. Better pics of the good dog?
LOL not sure which quad you speak of but neither are lowered that fun one is currently in the shop getting attention the other one just doing what it does. As for the dog I love to show him of :bounce: :bounce:f

If your interested i did get some video on my phone after i came home on Saturday. i was informed that each time they cut a tree on the fence line and it hit said fence it was appropriate to yell fence the new neighbor approves lol

The drive should work out good. Concrete edge band would give it a finished look and keep the milling in.
