It’s been two, years since we invaded your shop, just wondering if you recovered :lol_hitti

Only 2 :lol_hitti seems longer than that :D But you know i could maybe have my arm twisted and now that i know some what of what to expect i'm down for it.

Since its a rainy day here i thought i might update this thread some and make up for my slacking.

Well my new neighbor is almost done building his home and a damm nice one it is ;) So i am taking advantage of the fact that he is using my tree/bobcat dude. when he comes to do stuff for him he dose what i need as well. It's time to start working on getting the back yard the way we envisioned it when we built the house.

So i took 4 more trees down that were by the old fence then had 13 stumps ground. I also replaced the old fence with new black vinyl chain link 4ft high for the dog area. i also come off the back of the house 10 more feet to give him more room.
the addition of the screen room was nice in the fall we opened the sliders all the way and enjoyed the cool weather with out bugs :lol_hitti

I have also been spending some time getting a new race engine sorted out and last year i broke my street car (that i really enjoy driving) trans axle so we built a new and improved one for it just need some time to put it back together.

here is a short video of some test hits with the race car not very good but I have some much needed seat time and some data to work with.

Wicked. Guess we’ll get rides at the next get together.
Looks like you could use one of Tampa’s ladies in the trunk.
I wonder if I could fit a Tornado drivetrain in a Bug?

My tree guy got a stump grinder for his bobcat so he did it for a real sweet deal.
As much fun as those wheelies are the car only doe's it when it's not making good power. if all is right it will spin the tires and pick the front up about 8-12 inch's. We will find that again just need some more testing

Love the video of passes at the drag strip. I've taken my street cars to the strip over the years, but have always wanted a dedicated drag bug or ghia. I noticed in earlier photos of your car it looks like you run no engine tin at all. What are your return road temps in the heat of the Summer?

All ways good to see VW peeps on this forum. Actually this car is a street car pretending to be a race car. i bought this car in 1976 from my next door neighbor who bought it new in 1969. there is more to that story and the car but not now.
Any way when I decided to make it a dedicated race car the main thing I kept in mind was 1 day i may want to put it back in street trim. So it is still all steel and i even hate to drill a hole in it. As far as the cooling I normally run a 12v fan with very large hoses that blow on the cylinders on the return road and after the run till the head temp comes down. I keep the head temp under 350* and as long as it's tuned well thats pretty easy. that video we are testing and trying to tune a new combo and i was doing plug chops at the top so i was getting towed back with a 4 wheeler

Update time I had a guy make me a deal on a better driveway to the shop. Its kind of like recycled Asphalt that has not been crushed yet. They even used a roller on it to pack it down it's about 3inchs thick much better than what I had and it was only $1500.00DSC_0052.JPG

My suprise and need some suggestions
I bought one of these hoist a small one 220-440 lbs to lift heavy stuff up. i think i have an Idea that should work but just want some truss advice so to speak. The idea is for the hoist to trolly out past the loft by 24-30" and lift then trolly back 24-30" I need to attach the mouts to the trusses which are for vaulted ceiling. here are pics and my plan. please tell me what you think

Now for my idea. take a 12" 2x4 screw it to bottom trust 2x then drill a hole through dobled to x4 and attach L bracket viasingle bolt or 2 lag bolts. then mount hanger to L brkt withbotlt and nut 5/8 or 3/4 do this across 4 trusses so that i have strut in the fot to unload /load and about the same amout in the shop area. Yes I have vauled ceiling truss's
