Made a good bit of progress yesterday but I forgot to take many pictures as I went. The Jeep trailer rolls right under the shelf and there is still plenty of room for the four wheelers. Next up is to finish this shelf and build the second level for my wife to fill with her treasures.

wow im impressed with all the yard work you have done.

Thanks , it has come a long way from where we started.

I may end up putting out more grass seed but I am hoping this last fifty pounder will fill in.

The boss has asked for a gazebo/ outdoor fireplace.

We cook outside a lot and the plan is to incorporate a pizza oven into the fireplace.

Still have to finish the back garage first so the fireplace will probably be a fall project.

Re: 24x36 in NC

The place has come a long way since your first post. I see we do things the same way ... tear into one small project and end up tearing up the whole yard and doing it all at once.
It all looks great !!

I'd love some more details on the Jeeps in your life. A Jeep is not simply just another vehicle, it's a way of life.

All projects grow , sometimes into entirely new projects!

Jeeps huh? Lets see what I can dig up.

This is our 99 XJ on a 2.5" Old Man Emu lift and 31" Good Years. We use it for light wheeling and backwoods exploring. It is also the rig my daughter drives around the yard and will be hers once she gets her license.

This is my 2005 LJ and matching camp trailer. We have been all over the US in this rig and it is the rig I take out West. It has a lot done to it but still looks sort of stock. To keep with the theme of things it has an Old Man Emu lift and a lot of Savvy parts installed. I also bent up the cage and bumpers for it. The trailer was two wrecked 97's I cut in half and welded up.

We are currently building this for my son. It now has a Dana 44 with 4.56's in the rear and a Rubicon front waiting for a gear swap before it goes in. I am seriously thinking of trying a penta star V6 swap in the future , but for now it will remain a 4 banger. It has an Old Man Emu lift as well.

I even rent Jeeps for work and took this one North of the Arctic Circle. I dont have any of my old CJ pictures online , but there were a bunch of them. I also had a pile of Samurais that were equally as fun. There have been a few Scouts , Trackers , Traildusters , 4 runner and even a rover but my true love is Jeeps.

I was not expecting that !! I have had a few over the years with everything from a 98 2 door 5 speed XJ Sport to an old 54' Willys but my current is by far my favorite. She's a 98' Niner in a Dark Slate dress with a few tricks under her skin. Stroked to a 6.7l, DT Headers, M1 4BBL, Vortec S/C, Frozen Boost I/C, Ford 8.8 and a host of other things. Also, it's lowered on H&R Springs so it's not much of a flexy Jeep, just a quick one :D It won't go rock crawling real well but she did a 12.5 pass in the 1/4 mile so there's that I guess.

I can sit anywhere on the edge of the shelf and there is zero deflection , thankfully my brother had already figured that out for us. Off to help a buddy with a pole barn tomorrow. I hope to get back to the second shelf install Wednesday and primer Thursday. It all depends on how bad work beats me up along the way. It is nice to be this close , cant wait to finish it and get everything organized in the main garage.

Here is a link to where I went North of the Arctic Circle.

Back wall is fully insulated and sheathed.I used the shelf as my scaffolding , and it worked very well for that purpose.

The second layer of shelves is going up and will be finished tomorrow morning. It will be used to hold totes of various household items we dont need very often.

Figured out where the carport is going today , time to get a bobcat dropped off and start grading :D

Made some Jeep door hangers this last weekend , its nice to be able to start organizing after all this time.

Starting to watch masonry videos on facebook to learn how to run stone around the columns. I also think I am going to add a car port to keep the rest of the Jeeps under as well. No rest for the weary road traveler...

You had me at Jeep Storage.:bounce:

The place looks great and nice collection of Jeeps, especially the LJ and the JKU. Love the view of the house with the ribbon of concrete leading to the house.

We have heating and air on the hill! I picked up a 2 ton Daikin last month , and I wish I had done it years ago. My productivity is up , and I enjoy being in the garage more now .

index.php

I keep it set at 60 so far and its really comfortable to work in. Our electrical bill has gone up $10.00 a month! I regret not doing this earlier if you are on the fence make the jump.

https://scontent-atl3-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/48429496_10155838625807483_1119055940880957440_n.jpg?_nc_cat=106&_nc_ht=scontent-atl3-1.**&oh=2ecb3aede92b9de9670f279a16b81569&oe=5D501AFF

The Jeep collection has grown some over the last year .

https://scontent-atl3-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/52736760_10155945390052483_6913569909607759872_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&_nc_ht=scontent-atl3-1.**&oh=50e14b46de9b0f9191954d3c5f377181&oe=5D4C85FA

And the orange LJ came home since the last group photo.

The Jeep projects are ongoing , but the garages are starting to finish up.

Front garage is getting an in floor scissor lift and led bulbs in the 4' fixtures.

Back garage is getting a ceiling and a blanket of insulation as well. Once the back is insulated I am going to install a pusher fan from the front to the back on one side and a grate on the other side so the back garage will stay warm or cool as well.

I think that brings everything up to date , still have a few bare spots in the yard but it is the season to fix that!

Funny for me to realize you've been keeping this updated for 11 years!! Amazing! The place is really looking great! If you get a chance how about a deep shot towards the house showing how the berm filled it? I recall appreciating how the deck and new peak, garage and pass through made of a visually coherent package, it still looks as though it's always been that way. A testament to your vision and planning at the time. Congrats and thanks!

Hard to believe its been that long! My goal all along was for everything to look like it was here from the beginning . I will shoot a picture from out front if the weather cooperates tomorrow . I am currently loving the mini split and sad that I didnt put it in years ago. Next up is going to be a in floor scissor lift , hopefully before the end of summer. Til then heres LJ2 almost ready for paint.

I bet you're on a cliffhanger with the board down! Our server crashed , everything is being moved and will be back up shortly.

On a different front , I am shopping for an in ground scissor lift instead of buying another Jeep. Wife is in shock...

Ran across a good deal last week and while its not the EE in floor scissor lift I lust for , it will do the trick for now. It was crazy humid unloading it , but it went pretty smoothly with the bunk boards and a pinch bar.
195,000 miles and the old 7.3 is still doing work .

index.php

White Oak bunk boards / garage trim work made for a fairly easy dismount.

index.php

My son tapped the bunk boards to keep them under the wheels while I ran the pinch bar.

index.php

Almost on the ground!

index.php

Billy thought it was fun to torture me with pictures.

index.php

Ready to lift. It rolls pretty easy once you bump it up a bit.

index.php

Hover Jeep!

index.php

I need to order some stackable rubber lift blocks to make it less sketchy feeling as I have to use a 4x4 on the rear currently to get it level.

Still having to use some blocks on the scissor lift as the lift is too long for the Jeeps. I think I am going to sell this and get an in ground much sooner than later. Until then its nice to be able to throw one up in the air and do some basic work.

Adding a three sided car port for more dry'ish storage. My part of is done and ready , sadly I am stuck waiting on TOL buildings to come through with what they promised.

Gotta love a Brute! Was it a local find?

I had to drive up to Maryland to get it , so semi local? It also came with an AEV highline it. The kit is currently in the attic while I talk to a few folks who make fiberglass parts.

Awesome find with the Brute!!!

Thanks , I was pretty surprised to find it much less be able to afford it.

Great collection of Jeeps and the LS1 powered Brute will fit right in. I'm kind of partial to LS powered Jeeps though.:bounce:

I'm finding the LS to be brutally fast in something this lightweight though it loves a check engine light just as much as a Jeep! I have some bugs to work out but the previous owner took pretty good care of it .

As in having a highline kit made? I'd like build my own Brute. I really only need the half cab top. A highline hood would be nice.

I built a Jeep trailer by joining two wrecked tubs together. A chunk of copper and a wet cloth will be your friend when you start to build the half cab.
index.php

The half cabs are available from GR8 Tops and Rubitrux. The Rubitrux top is made by the same guys who made them for AEV from the same mould. The Rubixtrux fit and finish is better along with the fact that its built with heavier fiberglass than the GR8 Tops. I have one of each , and this is just my observation having them side by side.

I am attempting to have the high line parts reproduced , but there are a lot of hoops to jump through before any fiberglass is laid.

Car port is in! It is 21' wide by 18' deep. The install crew was great and really did a nice job. Top of the Line buildings aka TOL was mediocre at best. They scheduled the install a month later than what was agreed on and all conversation started with a call from us to them . The building is nice and there are zero complaints about quality of material or workmanship.

Nice to have some breathing room and now I can set up the back garage for just woodworking which will be great to have separated from the metal working/fabbing up front.

It only took 12 years to get the stone work started! But we added in an outdoor fireplace in addition to the garage and columns.

And just to add some more chaos we bought our local hardware store and are in the middle of remodeling it! While we are at it we are chipping up all of the old tile , polishing and epoxying the floors , installing new fixtures , changing suppliers , installing a new POS , and moving three walls in the warehouse to make the sales floor larger.

I really wish we had put some tape down for the starts and stops because the overlap is noticeable. My rep says the second coat will blend it all in. For now we have one coat down in the front 4000 sf. The soon to be enclosed 7000 sf out back will get the same treatment.

While we were working on the register tops I peeled some black locust logs for the garage. I am replacing the 6x6's with the logs on top of the stone when its finished.
