Several things done wrong but the biggest is the dust collector itself. DC-1200VX-BK3 Dust Collector, 2HP 3PH 230/460V, 30-Micron Bag Filter Kit

You bought a 3 phase dust collector and I'm guessing you don't have 3 phase...

You need to return DC and get one that uses single phase power. 3 phase is normally commercial/ industrial power.

got it; thanks all, I'm an .......

Did you buy it new, or used? If new return it, if used there are options if it was cheap enough to make it worthwhile, 3 HP single phase input VFD's are pretty reasonable, details will help.

3 phase has 3 "hot" wires, your Normal household power has 2 hots.

Also, if the unit calls for a 20a circuit then that is what you should use. Not the 50 amp plug you have in the link.

when you return the DC, make sure you pick up either upgraded bags or a canister filter that will filter down to 2 microns.

at 30 microns, you're still breathing in all the "poisonous" dust
