Flooring update:

Finally installed the floor and moved everything back in! I will be making a full size bar and two work area's in the future. The setup you see is just temporary, had an old bar sitting around so I decided to use it until I build the full bar. One of the work areas will be on the back wall near the heater. It will be for working on the car. The other work area will be where the wooden work bench is in the small corner area. It will be for tinkering with anything else.

Next step is to build separator walls, order some garage cabinets and counter tops for the work area's and full bar.

Enjoy!

Sup dudes, been a while since I posted any recent pics but since I just swapped out for my winter tires due to a huge winter blast (16"), I figured I would throw a couple pano shots up! Everything is pretty much on hold until I get the cabinetry in, just waiting for my in-laws to start their kitchen renovation so I can snag them! Enjoy!

Recently added: 46" Big Screen, Mini-Fridge and a rather large collection of liquor. HAHA!

Bar update:

So here we go with the bar project! The plan is to enclose the keggerator and have a few cabinets and shelving units behind the bar. Pretty simple and straightforward right? Yeah, well stay tuned because it's going to get interesting. The bar counter top will be entirely concrete, go ahead all you concrete guys.. start drooling. The product being used is pretty unique in the sense that it can be hand pressed like clay, or trowel finished. I am opting for the hand press finish to give it a more rugged and pitted look.

Check out the product here: http://www.buddyrhodes.com/craftsman-mix-1/

Anyways, the frame was started today and I thought I would share a few photos. Not much to look at right now but I will continue to update as progress is made.

Some of you guys probably shun IKEA but I tell you the prefab stuff saves time and money, it's also plenty durable for the layout and it is easy to incorporate and strengthen into the frame. The far white base cabinet will have a black cover panel, that's just how IKEA sells it. The shelving units in the middle are actually the perfect height for mounting the counter top right over.

Total length of the bar is about 12', should be able to seat 8 people.

Here is a picture of the concrete mix, color additive, sealer, and fiberglass particle mix. Watch some of the videos of how they make the counter tops it's actually pretty impressive.

Here is essentially how it works:

Stay tuned for more update pictures!

The bar is gonna be cool... Nice garage!

Nice work man, I'm loving your space. The bar is great!

Thanks for the comments guys!

The 1/2" plywood shell was put on today, this thing could take a hit from an NFL linebacker and not move an inch.. well.. maybe.. haha! It's sturdy!

Brackets and additional support for the IKEA gear, the space to the right is where the keggerator will go. If you look closely you can see it in the upper left of the pic. I am super excited to finally have a flowing tap in my garage!!!

As you can see, its a pretty straight forward setup. Entry on the right is about 2 1/2' from the wall for easy entry/exit on both sides. 10 Brackets will provide additional support for the massive concrete bar top. I promise it will get epic soon! Just wait!

The day has arrived! RELEASE THE KRAKKEN!!! err..BARTOP! RWAAAARR!!!

Measuring in at 12' 4" and over 440lbs the beast has risen. Removing the form on over $600 worth of concrete and materials is nerve wrenching enough. But as you can see: IT WORKED!!!

A close up shot shows the gritty, uneven-yet-flat surface texture that I was talking about.

As you can see there is a slot for the drip tray and hole for where the keggerator tap will fit through.

A little bit of diamond grinding and then it will be sealed!

Next part: actually getting it onto the bar frame. I expect it should take no less than six of us. Haha!

Let me know what you guys think!

Sup gang! Here you have it, well almost. Just gotta get the tile put on.

Sealed and waxed. You can easily slide a beer from the tap to the end of the bar. "BEER ME!"

Best beer money can buy! Custom tap and drip pan installed!

Plenty of support underneath.

Here are my tile options, I'm leaning towards the one second from the left. It is glass with a multi-colored background, should tie all the colors and textures together.
