We moved to a nice country lot in December from a new house we had built in a development in 2011. Development living isn't for my wife and I. The most important part of house hunting this time was having land to build my dream shop. I signed a contract with Pioneer Pole Buildings in May. 36'x60', 12' ceilings, 1' overhangs, ridge and soffit vents, gutters, ceiling liner with R38 blown in. I'll have 2 10'x10' garage doors on the 36' side, 2 windows on the 60' sides and a man door on one of the 60' sides. I also ordered 6" concrete. I spent my budget this year, so I'll work on insulating and finishing the walls next year, and hopefully run electric.

I picked colors based on this building.

They're coming back Tuesday to drill the post holes and start building. We have some bad weather in the forecast so hopefully it doesn't slow things down.

It’ll be nice to have a shop to restore my big block ‘67. It’s mechanically solid and a blast to drive, but time hasn’t been kind to the body. My great grandfather bought it brand new in 1967, passed it on to my dad, who hot rodded it, now it’s up to me to finish it.

They're supposed to be on site to set the posts tomorrow. The weather's not looking good for the entire week.

Had one the same color but a '68. A friend of mine stripped one down to the frame and redid it. Never thought orange/white could look so nice.
Good luck!

Got home from work and noticed they dropped off a piece of equipment.

I'm looking forward to it! It's a blast to drive but it deserves to look better.

Nothing happening today because of rain. It's really frustrating, we had a month of nice sunny weather until this week. The 10 day forecast shows rain every day.

Garage doors are scheduled for installation tomorrow. Concrete next week, not sure when the gutters are going on. Insulation is supposed to be blown in on 8/13.

Looking good. Will they grade for drainage around the shop before finishing?

My excavator will do that after they get out of the way. Also, I'm getting 4 inches of stone and 6 inches of concrete, so the floor will be 10 inches higher than you see now. I still have a pile of fill and topsoil so the excavator will grade and create swales, My yard drains really well, so I'm not worried.

Concrete, gutters & final grading can't come soon enough. We've been getting ridiculous amounts of rainfall the past 3 weeks.

Awesome, i would love to get something like that built in the future.

It definitely ran over budget, but I've been wanting something like this my whole life. My wife will be happy when we can clear out the garage and basement. There's no shed on this property, just an attached two car garage and a walk out basement.

Just got a phone call, quality check and gutter installation tomorrow morning. So far everything has been top notch from PPB. As long as everything stays on schedule, concrete prep on Thursday, concrete pour on Friday. Once it's cured I'll clean out my 12x24 storage facility I've been renting and move some tools in. Not sure how much more I'll get done this year. I'm also remodeling our house, currently have my daughters bathroom torn apart. Once I get back to working on the shop, I'm thinking 2x6 bookshelf girts 24" on center, Rockwool R23 batts, primed and painted OSB. When the walls are done I'll run electric, surface mounted EMT. I have a plan to get 100A from the house to a load center in the shop.

Concrete’s complete, waiting for it to cure. I’m thrilled with the building so far.
