wait a minute here....new garage and a new truck!!!! you are the man....barn looks great
see you live next to a farm...check out a product from sikka..its a flexable sealer for concrete...used it on mine around edges and post's before putting up interior wall's,i also shoved steel wool in any joint bigger than an 1/8 inch before using the sealer....no unwanted pets seen yet:thumbup:

Yep, I've been driving a beater no options Subaru since I got rid of my Silverado. I hate full size trucks as daily drivers so the Taco is a compromise.

Thanks for the advice on sikka and steel wool.

Shame to let a slipping clutch force ya into a toyota! My poor forester was my work truck for my entire house build. Shop looks awesome.

I've been using the Forester way beyond it's capabilities. It feels better being back in a truck. I wanted a mid-size and there's no arguing the Tacoma is the best of the bunch, this is coming from a Chevy guy. Drove a new Colorado last year, it was nice but it didn't have that bulletproof feel the Tacoma's have.

What's the most economical way to buy steel wool to use as a rodent block?

I'm at work, but the excavator is on site digging the dry well and doing final grading. I'll take some pics when I get home.

Joe_K,

Just went thru your build. Very close to what I had put up but I like your color choice better than mine.

I have a 30' x 60' x 14' and it's already full, guess I need to think about building another building and use it strictly for storage

I also agree with you on the Taco. I'm a Chevy guy all the way but the full size **** as a daily driver, the Colorado just felt plastic and I like the looks of the Toyota better,, plus since I haven't started on my 68 and the 57 isn't really a"work truck" anymore I had to get something that would last with the abuse of daily use and hauling

Keep us updated, I'll be following.

Haven’t updated for a while. I’ve been working on the house a lot. I did move a few things in, and built a fire pit for some fall fun. I filled the gaps between the siding and mud board with rodent block and great stuff Pro. I also sprayed great stuff everywhere I could see light shining through, it really cut down on drafts when it’s windy. I still have 99% of my tools in storage that I’m looking forward to getting home. I have a Vidmar box packed with Snap On, a tig welder, plasma cutter, large air compressor, etc. I did move my small cheapo Craftsman and Harbor Freight boxes for some basic wrenching.IMG_3547.jpgIMG_3543.jpgIMG_3545.jpgIMG_3594.jpgIMG_3574.jpgIMG_3593.jpg

Power is coming from a 100’ 12/3 extension cord plugged into the back of the house, lol. Luckily I have a Milwaukee M18/M12 tool addiction which is making life easier without full electric.

My excavator is so busy he offered to knock a bunch of money off if I did the final grading and grass planting. I thought no problem, I ordered a box scraper and sleeve hitch from Cub Cadet. I got the box scraper in a week, but the damn sleeve hitch is still on backorder. Every time I call them the date gets pushed back, and I called every dealer within a 4 hr drive. Nobody has one in stock. I’m not set up to use my welder/plasma cutter/compressor yet, or I’d fab something up on my own.IMG_3538.jpgIMG_3539.jpgIMG_3552.JPG

Found a surprise when I went into the shop the other night. Must’ve snuck in and hid when I had the door open.

I also calculated and placed my order for 24" OC R23 Rockwool. I should have it framed out by the estimated delivery date of 10/22.

Sorry if I missed it, but why the spray foam on the girts? I understand at the bottom, but what about the other one?

I have two tone siding, behind that row of girts is where the two colors of siding and trim meet. Look at some of my exterior pictures and you'll see what I mean. I closed the doors and blocked the windows on a sunny day and noted everywhere I could see light peeking through. I shoved rodent block in all those points lower to the ground and spray foamed. I just used spray foam up at the ceiling.

I have to remember to snap some more pictures. I have such limited time after work that I'm just focused on getting it done. North, East, and half of the South wall are framed.

Everything’s framed out. Now I’m waiting on my delivery of 24” OC R23 Rockwool. I bought a bag of 16” OC Rockwool for the smaller areas.

That's how you do it with a pole barn, they span the 6x6 posts. If you build a regular wall the base of it would be on the concrete which is at grade level, moisture could become an issue.

Oh, man I'm lusting after your '57 in a bad way! That truck is beautiful. One of my favorite trucks.

Quick question,

Why horizontal on the framing?

Bookshelf girts. I don't like the idea of traditional framing on top of a floating slab. It's not structural, it's just there to hold the insulation and wall covering.

Stronger strength horizontally, especially in high winds.
