Jointer recommendations

Can I get into anything I'm not going to regret buying for five to seven hundred? I'm just a serious hobbyist getting on in age. I've had and used ****** ones and I'll make a sled for my planer rather than fighting that frustration.
Anything you might recommend, and why?

500 to 700 should be able to get you a used Delta or older Powermatic 6" or a newer used Jet/Grizzly or similar 6 or 8". I gave 700 or 750 dor a Delta DJ20 8" so the budget is very reasonable for used machine as long as you're not looking for fully restored

Around here you can certainly get a 6" jointer for your budget. An 8" machine is typically over $1000.

That budget will do here, an 8" Rockwell was under that. Only thing above was a Powermatic with a helical head.

Or get a Stanley #7 and a workout.

I prefer new. If I stumbled on the right deal I would not be opposed to used but I live out in the sticks and there isn't much of a used market.

If you weren’t so far away I would make you a great deal on this one. I just don’t use it anymore. I made a couple pieces of furniture with it and that was it. Powermatic.

Honestly you are better off with a sled and a jig for your table saw for that budget if you can’t find a used one. 6” will severely limit what you can do and the models available new at that price point leave a lot to be desired. Don’t reject used grizzly’s based on fear of usability. They can be tweaked to work adequately and are good machines. My suggestion is to keep a look out for a used grizzly 8” parallelogram style. Other than foot print it’s a perfectly capable tool with few negatives….other than foot print. You actually see a number of them come up for sale because they do take up a lot of shop space.
