Took 4 group 31 batteries and mounted them on a utility cart. Used 00 cables, shut off switch, wired in a charger, added a couple LED work lights. Couldn't be beat for working out in the yard at night and it would start anything. They're still using it to this day...Best deal on the smaller jump starter variety is the 7775, same peak amps or more than the similar sized models out there. Better electronics attachments as well:

Those things will not jumpstart anything besides a smaller car, 400 peak amps is not enough in alot of cases for a v8 truck/car. 1700 peak amps is a jump n carry.
Longevity for a jnc cant be beat.

Maybe those are better, but my buddy had a similar snap on one that wouldnt do **** to a V8 truck.
Having used a jnc 660 for years and years day in and day out Id trust it more for pro use.
I was given this as a thank you gift and its been awesome:

But those are spendy. I've also got two of the yellow HF units about a year ago and they've done great as well, even more so when you consider the price.
I keep a set like the astro pneumatic one in my backpack and it too has saved my *** a number of times, both with starting engines and to charge my phone and laptop. The flashlight is really useful too. Love the little mini jump pack.
I have a lot of equipment around that doesn't like to start.
I'm going to just put my experience here - a buddy of mine has a Ford vac truck with a 370 in it and we've used his mini jumppack to start it before. Granted, I don't think the jump pack was too happy about it but it did start it.

We are thinking about picking up one of these mini jump boxes to keep in our offraod race car. There have been a lot of times that we have lost an alteernator and our battery is too far drained to start the car. We keep a spare alternator on board, so this would really help to have. In the past, we have either had to rely on other racers to stop and jump us or figure out a way to relay a traditional jump box from the pits to the car.
i've got a booster pak es5000. 1500 peak amp 12v. my mechanic had one, nd then the small engine guy next door to him got one. I was going on a good 2000+ mile trip and picked one up for just about 120. I've never needed it personally, but there's a few people out there glad I carry it. I came across a guy in an older corvette one day, trying every which way to pull another car up close enough to his to be able to reach his battery under the seat. I was like a water oasis in the desert when I walked right up with this! I know people that use them to start cars, lawnmowers, tractors ect. and they all give great reviews, even been told it'd start something as big as a semi no problem. buddy of mine quit replacing his lawnmower battery and just hooks this up while he cuts haha!

I'm surprised there are so many recommendations for the JNC brand.
I was excited about it at first when I spotted it on Amazon, but when I read all the 1 star, 2 star, and 3 star reviews, I was really turned off.

I also think these jump packs with 400 to 500 cranking amps are kind of weak compared to today's cars that require anywhere from 500 to 700 cranking amps to start properly. Plus, I want to have the ability to start a car with a totally dead battery, not just a weak one.
JNC has a big boy with like 800 ca, but it's like $300. Overpriced IMO.
