Jump Starter Noco GB70 or JNC660

Hello I want to buy a good jump starter. I see that the Noco GB70 has 2000A and JNC660 has 1700A is very clear that a little less Amp the JNC660 has but that is not important because that is not proof it's real performance the important is that works the device when you require including the most complex situations. I don't know which of the both is best in performance and durability. We had a bad experience in our Honda Car and the battery drained totally and a Chinese cheap jumper left us in the nowhere and did nothing then for that bad experience I considered in buy a better and trustable start jumper for emergencies like that one where the battery was totally dead.

What I liked about JNC660 is the fact you can replace the batteries easily but the GB70 I liked also for the Sparks protection and the portability, its weight is 5 lb while the JNC660 18-19 lb. I would prefer the portability of GB70 and also and dummy features and I was reading the reviews in Amazon that some people tested the jump starter GB70 in all kind of cars including without battery installed on the cars to check if the GB70 could resist to jump start like that and it did but in other cases not. Now the JNC660 has similar opinions but some comments say is focused mostly to jump start having a little power in the battery of the car to work properly. Now in our bad experience that was not our case in our case fits the example of dead battery like if was removed from the car and jump start from there.

Now for the portability and the anti sparks feature I would go with GB70 but what I did not like is that the battery only support 1000 cycles and is dead and I asked to Noco and they told me if during 1 year of warranty the battery is dead then they replace but after 1 year they don't replace batteries including if you want to buy from them or request a paying repair service. It means after 1 year your product is disposable totally because although you want to pay for a repair or replace of batteries Noco doesn't want to do anything although you want to pay for the service so sad.

By the other side the JNC660 they give you a coupon for life that if one day fails the unit no matter the years then they replace for 50 US for a new one or if you whish you can replace the battery by yourself buying at a price around 40 US.

Now I posted this because what we want is the best option and a unit that can jump start in the most complex situations like if the unit could brings to life a dead like our bad experience. If the GB70 is better doing that then is not a problem if it is disposable the important is not run risks on the road but if JNC660 does better the jump starting dead batteries or could start like if was without battery the car is not important the 18-19 lb.

Which of the both has better performance with dead batteries similar to say like if battery was removed from your car and also best performance?

Thank you

The NoCo isn't going to put out anywhere close to 2000 amps.

youtube video of a teardown of one of those NoCo lithium boost packs:

Go with the JNC660, or better yet, the JNC950 if you have the coin.

Yes is what we thought is better sacrifice more height but better performance we'll go for the JNC950 is 2000A.

Talking about this what could be a good battery charger? Noco has some but at this step we don't know if there are good in performance. One pretty thing of the Noco is that you can charge via the OBDII and is supposed repair batteries. Could be a good option a Noco battery charger or what other could be better?

My personal recommendation for a smart charger is the BatteryMinder model # 12248. I've had mine for 10 years and it's brought back about a dozen car batteries from the dead. I also have a couple of Optima AGM batteries that are over a decade old that I hook up to the BatteryMinder once every couple years, and the batteries still work like they're new.

Ok and I read about JNC950 shut down itself once is charged I suppose the JNCXFE does the same. But the point I saw there is no off switch that means if you put in the trunk of a regular car is risky if you touch the connectors? Just to be prepared and avoid an accident.

Yep, same here. Used JNC660 for eons. Short of a diesel truck it will start it. They are professional units and will take a lot of abuse. I can jump at least 10 cars a day no problem. I keep several at home I re-habbed after guys broke them. One word of caution-it has no off switch... It is pretty hard for the connectors to touch, the clamps are plastic. The old style were metal and came with covers.

The cord should never touch if it's put away properly and you are correct there's no ON Off switch. It has never ever caused an issue. I would say check the prices on both but don't over pay for the xfe cause its less common you'll be less likely to find a deal or the value might not be worth the extra cost weigh the odds...

Just to add to this, I recently bought a Shumacher professional series jump starter and am very happy with it. I bought it for my boat which is now kept at a dock that doesn't have shore power. Haven't needed it yet but it seems like a very substantial unit and have no doubt it will start boat if called into service (boat has a single 496 MAG in it). It's pretty heavy though. I hear very good things about the JNC as well.

Ordered the JNC950 finally.

Thank you for the tips. There is no doubt JNC sounds the best of the best.

Does anyone know if the JNC660 has a smart charger built in so I can leave it plugged in when not in use or do I have to unplug the unit once the full charge light comes on.

If you want it to last get jnc. Just about everything else out there has flaws in comparison. I have a jnc 400 personally....jumps my Cummins dodge...and with the relay toast I use it to power the grid heater every cold start all winter.
Replacing battery is easy and inexpensive and the case is durable...bumps and drops are no problem.
We use Schumacher at work...junk. hard plastic case fairly easy to crack in a drop or pitting something on top of it...all the built in "extras" add weight and complexity...everything runs through a circuit board...and the built in charger is non standard output and Schumacher doesn't sell parts. Ask me how I know....
I've got 2 in my shop, one is gutted and rewired without their extras.
Battery life is ok...my in is 10+ yrs old, only had to replace the battery 2 years ago for the first time, Schumacher ones seem to get about 2+3 years on a battery for us with better care than my jnc ever got.

My driver bought himself a snap on jump pack...same hard plastic case, smaller battery....dealer told him it should be plugged in charging whenever not in use...not inspiring especially for $500 with a seperate brick type charger no less.

Jnc or nothing imho.

People have different needs. I have 2 $60 Whistler (Walmart) jump packs. One stays on my ATV "just in case". The other got me through last winter using it nearly every day while I tried to figure out what was killing my truck battery.

I haven't touched my big gel-cell-powered jump pack in 2 years.

I love my Genius NoCo GB30. I also have a G750 Battery charger. I love NOCO. I charge it once a month regardless if I use it or not. But if I use it, it gets charged ASAP. Have helped a few friends along the way.

I have the Noco GB70 and it has worked great for me. If i have a battery thats on its last legs I know i can get a few more weeks out of it if i carry the Noco with me. I just make sure that after i use it to top off the GB70 at a USB power plug. Convenient. Good protection built in as well to the unit.

Big plus it is so small it just sits under the seat out of the way. That JNC-660 is pretty big, maybe something like that is necessary if you're going out to a lot and jumping a bunch of cars. I just have to worry about one usually.

Get the JNC. Had a Noco GB70 in the trunk of my wife's car and it expanded and cracked the case probably due to the heat since it's outside 24/7.
