The city of the broken bell.
For anyone reading this thread in the future, if your looking to spend snap on money on a jack get a AC Hydraulic A/S jack.

I've had mine for a few years now, and as far as i'm concerned, there is no better jack out there. The precision in the release is extremely precise.

Someone posted theirs in the new tool purchases thread, that looks like a terrific jack, and its made in Denmark - not China.

That's a pretty weak jack for 6 bills, the Milwaukee or Hein-Werner jacks are 3 times that jack.

Milwaukee was just more than I needed, took second choice ....
Hein-Werner HW93652 Blue Heavy Duty Service Jack - 3 Ton Capacity

That's what I was looking at before I got the FJ300. It's $500, I got the SO jack for $550 OTD off the truck. Shinn Fu makes both the Hein Warner and the FJ series jacks (and likely the Daytona as well). The one thing that steered me from the HW (other than the fact I had to wait a couple of days to get it vs having the truck stop by the house later that day) is at the lowest it won't clear the wife's Focus. I don't mind spending the extra $300-350 knowing that I'll be able to get parts down the road. I think eventually someone will reverse engineer the Daytona seals and start selling kits but right now they don't.

I must be ignorant to all that mess? What’s the story of you don’t mind typing.
Lately, Harbor freight has come out with new products that they claim are equal to a particular model from a quality brand at a fraction of the price. They run adds with side by side specs where theirs is equal to or better on all specs. They have done it with Snap On, Honda and Dewalt products. Some testers seem to confirm their claims. Snap On felt it had to protect the reputation of their often over priced stuff and sued. We have SO fan boys here that cannot believe that anything is as good as Snap On and they get very upset at the suggestion that somebody could sell what may be a a very similar jack at less than 1/3 the price, especially if they bought the SO jack for 600 bucks. I reserve judgemet as I do not know how similar they really are. Even if the design is similar, that does not count for manufacturing QC and materials used. While it was way before this advertising campaign, the original Earthquake impact wrench was supposed to compete with the IR Thunder gun. I discovered that the illistrated parts breakdown drawings were almost identical. Dunno.

If memory serves, Sunex was listed as the OEM for the FJ series jacks from Snap On in the patent info. I’m not sure why they didn’t use Omega as a supplier being that they already utilize them in the HW line, not to mention they offer low profile jacks.

Would recommend the AC jacks way ahead of any of the snap on jacks , have had to warranty several of my workshops snap on jacks after very short period of time yet the AC ones keep going

For the sake of clarity, Do they use Hein Werner (formerly Walker/Lincoln) 9xxxx series jacks overseas in the Snap On flavor, Or have they always been the run of the Mill rebranded imports? I thought i recalled seeing a flyer or something posted showing the models available overseas and didn’t recognize any of them as there domestic counterpart.

Shop i used to work in had a couple AC jacks. They rocked. Way nicer than the Lincoln's. Longer, though, which could be a pain.

I have an FJ300. Got a great deal on it thrown in with other things I bought. Extremely happy with it. It gets under my lowered car and lifts it high enough to slide the 12” raceramp cribs under the tires. It’s functioned perfectly.

If people want to buy the HF one so be it. People can spend their money wherever they like. I’ve never understood the whole “Mine is better than yours” ****. It’s just childish

Is that a good thing or bad? Given the labor rate differences, if it's made in Denmark, I would worry more about the quality.

These jacks are not hard to make. Snap On probably gives the manufacturer less than $100. Harbor Freight probably gives about the same. Yeah, expect there will be substantial differences among them.
