I'm really lost on what we are debating here

You mentioned that you've made this type of "used" purchase in the past and have received "basically new items"....... and I made a comment.

And all I was getting at was..... That's great that you've been lucky to purchase "used" items and received "basically new" in the past, but don't expect it to be "basically new" every time. They call this stuff "used" for a reason. You might spin the wheel and get a ************* like the OP did in this thread. That is all.

do you really need an unknown audience giving approval on something completely subjective and one in which the only person using them will be you.?.

If you got replies like no big deal...use them....
Does that give you a good feeling and then you'll keep them?

My point is sonething obviously isn't sitting right with you about your purchase (hence your post)

If you don't like them send them back. ( I couldn't do that personally on buying something I knew was used but you do you)

If you like them use them.

If you don't..then do what you feel with give you the justice you demand

But what has happened because of this post and typically will is:

_ didnt think about optional warranty on items
_ got feedback on pricing at other vendors
_ was told about other options

and gives other members a chance to see what "used acceptable" can mean from Amazon warehouse sales

Forums exist to bring people together to interact on things that interest them. This is a topic that a couple buddies sitting around chatting would easily talk about.

"very good" likely means unused. I'd have no issue buying these if I was in the market

Hey everyone. I took advantage of one of the deals on Amazon for the Wiha 10 piece screwdriver set. Used but Acceptable. They are pretty used IMHO. Some of the handles are pretty greasy and at least one of the slotted drivers has some slight chipping. I love Wiha screwdrivers but these were $99 with tax. I have ton of drivers so...I am leaning towards returning.

Return. $100 is a lot to pay for a broken screwdriver set.

Nope! All my shoe glory is still in the first pic. Just not super obvious.

I buy Amazon warehouse all the time and it's usually just damaged packaging, but I don't buy used-acceptable. You can save a lot of money doing that and still get new stuff

i bought a 'used-acceptable' vise, for about 75% off. It arrived in a badly damaged outer box, with a slightly damaged inner one. the vise itself was perfect.

You are definitely the black sheep. Like others said, I wasn't looking for validation. Just showing what I received and seeing it was the first set of used/acceptable I have received that I felt wasn't acceptable, I figured I would what others think.

I expected others to chime in on what they have bought and the condition which some did.

Unfortunate that you figured you would come on in and then, whatever.

"Acceptable" is subjective.

This. Over the years I've bought a few things from Amazon with the "Used, Acceptable" description of condition and they seemed to have an "Under-promise, over-deliver" methodology - I can't think of anything that wasn't better than I expected. Those would be much worse than I expected.

Different story if he KNEW EXACTLY what it was first

...and this. For me, those are closer to "Used, Below Average" at which point I would have skipped them for $99.

I would totally send those back as well. It's why Amazon provides a return policy when there's no pictures.

I have a Wiha Extra Heavy Duty set with the microfinish/purple handle. Whatever steel they're made of is super-sturdy - you have to work pretty hard to do the damage to the one in the solo pic. Ultimately, a better description might have been "Used, slightly damaged" - and not worth $99 in that condition IMHO. I'm not sure what I'd pay for them, but a lot less than that.

It's funny how a certain group in GarageJournal seems to have this "I'm a man. Tools get damaged. I'm hard on my tools. That should be completely acceptable to overpay for the privilege of owning man-tools." attitude, almost no matter what.

It's not roulette. He's not asking if they'll still work. He's getting a read on whether they're worth a hundred bucks.

Lol, who the hell uses a set of drivers that much and then sends them back. I certainly wouldn't keep them, it wouldn't be so bad if they weren't covered in grease.
