Ok I realized a few things tonight while I was in the attic. I actually took some video so I didn't have to keep going up there in the freezing cold.

While at a quick glance, all the trusses look the same, there are actually THREE types of trusses up there. Double cantilever, fink, and single cantilever.

And single cantilever.

The majority of the trusses (literally, all except for 3) are double cantilever, or fink. Double cantilevers are over the porch/living room/kitchen area. Finks are over the bedroom/hall area. The 3 single cantilevers are mixed in with the doubles on the west side.

Now when I say double cantilever, this is very confusing. I get that the porch is cantilevered. The web comes right down on top of the front exterior wall, and the additional 5' is overhanging the porch. At the back, this web layout is identical (web 5' from heel), but the "cantilever web" here lands dead smack in the middle of the kitchen ceiling. Is this just for symmetry in strength of the truss? If so, why the random trusses that are just single cantilever.

Working on uploading the video.
