For how infrequently mine gets used, it gets drained, unplugged, and put away at the end of its use. It might go a few weeks at a time without being used.

Not clever, but my 80g Saylor Beale has a ball valve on the bottom I open to let the water out and remains full. Air all the time, but there's a ball valve at the tank and a switch to interupt the pressure switch when I'm not there.
Having air is another utility.

I have my compressor in a small shed behind my garage so have an isolation switch mounted near the entry door for the compressor circuit, I have a 25W light bulb connected on the load side of the switch to remind me to turn it off when I leave the shop. When I get around to properly running black iron pipe thru the shop I will probably install a solenoid valve on the tank outlet powered by compressor circuit so one switch to isolate power and air.

Not including other reasons, my compressor will leak down enough in 5 minutes to kick back on. However, since it also has a problem with the unloader it really means you turn it on. It kicks off. 5 minutes later it tries to turn back on Buzzes loudly and then trips. :) Hence why I've been posting in the California Air Tools threads. I got it for free but my compressor is quite a POS.

Bc EVERY industrial compressor company suggests draining them daily as PMCS, bc I only need air a few times per week, bc shutting machines off when not in use is industrial safety 101.....

thats what they make a auto drain for.......

mine drains twice a day, and it on 24 /7 full charge just turn off the ball valve at tank

I unplug and close the valve when not using mine. I can go for weeks without needing compressed air. But I take it as a personal failure if the tank is not at the same pressure I left it at even 2 weeks later.
