A nice bright usable space Kevin.

Looks like a dealership with all the spaces and cars and the lift.

I would be plunking an easy chair down in the middle of it, and spending some time just marveling at it and soaking it all in. You've gone through a lot to get where you are. It's been an odyssey, and you deserve all the rewards.

I don't have an easy chair, but believe me, I do have a chair that I've sat in quite a bit to soak it in. I still can't believe I have a garage this big

You sure you want to work in that place ? It looks too nice for that.

If I don't have a lot of stuff sitting around, it will make for an easy cleanup. The other side is what is hard to clean at the moment due to stuff sitting around. Makes it hard to sweep.

All that work has paid off for you Kevin. It's almost at the point that you are going to have to get it dirty.:lol_hitti

WHAT :scared:

I'll have it dirty soon enough. And when I do, that is when the lower half will be painted  Seriously though, if I watch what I do, I should be able to keep it clean for quite a long while. It's the main portion that will get dirty, but I'll have corrugated tin on the lower half to help keep things cleaner and for an easier cleanup. And most of the work will be done in the main garage anyways....I think :headscrat

That's a great idea to use corrugated tin (I assume a few feet up). That will be a lot easier to keep clean. I was thinking stainless but that would be very expensive, nice but expensive.

Well I decided to bite the bullet and paint the other half of my garage. This side (main garage) already has tin in it but I have to finish a couple of walls. This is the garage that has the maroon walls and black ceilings. Now it will be all white to match the addition. The wife likes it all white, but to me it gives the garage a colder feeling. Maybe it's me, but I got used to the maroon and black. I also think I reached a point in my life where I don't like painting. This side is going to be a lot of work. And as far as primer goes.....Valspar *****!! It's taking 2-3 coats to cover the maroon up to the point I can paint it. It actually covers the black on the ceiling better than it covers the maroon on the walls. But in another week, I should have things painted. I just have a lot of cutting in and conduit to paint around. Here are the pics of one half primed.

I saw a road sign mounted on the front of your garage "Weimer", I'm a Schneider on my dad's side but on my mom's side its all Weimer's a great bunch of people :bounce: And i was a tool and die maker in my former life just not retired yet. Its cool to see all the things people on the Garage Journal have in common. Your garage is looking awesome, what a cool space to spend your retirement in...Have a great holiday and new year

On the Weimer's side of your family, do you know if they have any relation named Alloway? As odd as it sounds, I hardly know anything about my dads side (Weimer) and it not one of your more common names.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you also. And to everyone out there.....please have a Safe and Fun holiday season :thumbup:

I don't know any Alloway's, all the Weimers on my side are just around northeast Indiana. I don't get out much

Updates???

Not much to update. Just been painting the main garage and trying to cover up the maroon and black. I'm down to one wall and a half a ceiling. Painting around the conduit is a pain. Plus I've had to pull my cabinets down, fill holes, added a 5' bench in, hanging up some pics, and generally trying to clean things up. Once I get the wall and ceiling painted, I'll post up some pics of the finished product.

At the moment I'm waiting on Ashton to stop to help me lift a cabinet off of the wall so I can get back to painting. It's going to be an early night though of going in the house as momma has an early appointment tomorrow in Columbus. This will be her last cancer check of the year tomorrow, so wish her luck. So far so good though :rocker: 4 years into remission.

Kevin,

Happy New Year and wishing your wife (and you) all the best. Hope she rings out the old year with a great checkup! I have a celebration every 5 years on the anniversary of my survival -- she should be planning hers (it's good to be alive). :fingersx:

Kevin: first off i'm hoping the Dr. says nothing but nice words to your wife and you. i think you mentioned it's been a few or maybe 5 years since originally found a problem that has been fixed? hoping you come back with a clean bill of health for your bride.

not sure if any of your GJ local friends has one or the rental company or maybe Craigslist, but I bought 3 of these little hand crank lifts that would make putting up cabinets easy if your neighbor is busy or moves. i put unistrut in the holders to get them out in front of the wheels and they are rated for 500 to 1000 pounds and i've had a fair amount of weight on them just getting things on and off my trailer. hopefully your strong friend is around until you finish hanging all the heavy stuff.

Happy new year to you sir and hope to get to know you a little better in 2016.

cheers

Momma had a great outcome on her checkup. :rocker: By this time next year she will have made her 5 year point on being cancer free

And that is just the start of a good day. While at the James Cancer Center I received a call from my dentist and my teeth are in  I've been waiting over 6 months for this day. This was from an implant that developed an infection from when I had MRSA and had to have the implant removed and another put in, in a different spot, and had to have two new teeth made. So far, I am just shy of $15,000 out of my pocket for this mess  but this should be the end of that....Finally!!!!!

Then it's back home and get to painting the rest of the main part of the garage. one wall and a half of a ceiling, and my garage will have all white walls and ceilings. Then all I have to do is straighten things up, put a few things away, and I can get back on things that I have neglected for some time, mainly finish up a job for a certain member on here.

Yep...$15,000. My dentist was out of network and sent me to another who was out of network. And what started out as a simple procedure turned into a complicated mess. And once something like that starts, you just can't change horses in midstream. One dentist doesn't like to finish another dentist work. And the dentist I should have went to, I don't overly care for him. I was with him once, and won't go back. I sort of got stuck in the middle of things, but it's a long story.

ANYWAYS..........You and the Family have a Very Safe and Very Happy New Years. If you go anywhere, watch out for the other person as there will be some drunks on the roads. Did you see the ******* on the news yesterday that posted on Facebook slamming down some whiskey while driving and bragging about it? He was from Franklin County around Columbus. The law hauled his *** to the slammer.

I'll C'ya in '16

Same to you to JC. Be safe out there and ring in the New Year like there's no tomorrow.

Me......I'll be crashed by about 9:00pm. It's been years since I've stayed up late enough to watch the ball drop

All the walls and ceilings are now painted. ALMOST everything is put away but just have to find a few more places to stash what is sitting out although not all will be tucked away. The ceiling fans will be painted and hung back up. I have just a few things on the floor to get off of the floor. By tomorrow, I should be back to doing what I WANT to do instead of what I have to do. And painting was what I had to do. It's going to be quite a few years before the garage gets painted again, that's for certain. It has made it brighter in here though, although I do miss some color.

Kevin,
You have a wonderful shop/garage.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. And you worked very hard to get it.

So glad to hear about both of you and your wife's health issues getting resolved as best they could.

Here's wishing the both of you the best 2016, and many, many more years to come.

Bill

The white walls certainly make things brighter, but they also show the dirt more easily. My garage walls are white as well, I do woodworking, and I have to vacuum down the walls every couple months. Not a big deal really, doesn't take all that long to do it, but it is just one more thing I need to do.

Glad to hear good news on the health front.

I like the new paint. The other was too dark for my taste. Look forward to see the finished set up.
