Maybe; if we're lucky, Larry will find his way here and discover what a great place this is and a great bunch we are. :->

Wow. Those videos are quite impressive. And I'm obviously a huge fan of his primary car brand as well. I can tell what I'll be watching over the next few days.
Thanks

I found Larry's videos a few years back when I was searching on YouTube for a way to improve my detailing. Thanks to watching a good 6 hours of his videos my technique is better.

I've given his "Ammo" brand a whirl and it does work very well. Ryan is right in that Larry doesn't advocate you use his brand over another, but he does teach you how to use what you have better.

Ryan:

Happy Friday, and I hope each day is getting more and more bearable for you.

Thanks for sharing Larry's great car detailing information; I just learned a lot watching his 'white paint' video.

Get well soon!

Re: the green Porsche.

Just wash the damn thing!

Steam? Really!?

**** yeah... Have you ever unearthed a car like this? I have. It's an incredible experience that can only be ruined by yourself.

A story:

A buddy of mine and I found a '29 roadster that was built as a hot rod in the 1940s. It had been amazingly preserved wrapped in tarps and in a blanket. Even so, it was covered in decades of dust. We tried a water hose and found that it would only work in conjunction with rags, which obviously scratched the hell out of the paint underneath.

We then called another buddy who has a lot of experience with this kind of thing and he recommended steam. It literally saved the paint on the car...

Ryan,
I hope you feel better soon. Hydrocodone is an awesome drug--sometimes too awesome. Be careful with it.

I liked the video you linked and will probably watch the rest this weekend. I enjoy watching people who enjoy their craft doing what they do.

Like dkroth, I also wonder why he used the steam on the whole car. I would think it would have been a heckuvalot easier and more effective to tape the body seams and wash the car, then pull the tape and just steam the areas around the seams. Every time he wiped off that muddy ******* with a cloth, I cringed.

But, the end result was impressive. I think I need a paint meter.

I Love these videos. He's dedicated, smart and willing to teach. I'm turning his videos into my Saturday night. :)
I'm wondering if he has an education in chemical engineering, wouldn't be surprised

Ryan,
I've been laid up this past week with a gum abscess. The Oral surgeon worked on me last wensday and I started to feel better by Friday night. I goofed up and forgot to get a script for Hydrocodone and made a special trip Friday morning back to the doctor for it. Feel better, and thank God for pain meds.

I don't see how you guys do it, I had a back tooth break in half and had to get the remaining piece extracted a week later after the swelling went down. First visit they wrote me a scrip for Hydrocodones and I threw it in the drawer in case the pain got unbearable. After getting the tooth pulled, Doc wrote another scrip for more and told me take one before the numbing shots wore off. I took one and 30 mins later threw up, took a nap for a few hours and ate some lunch when I woke up and took another. I threw up again, then I threw the two scrips in the garbage and went back to Ibuprofen. I can not stand prescription pills, they literally make me sick...

I am not a Porsche fan (don't be a hater Ryan). However, these videos make me want to take a closer look, maybe drive one.

Good posts.

Drive one. It will change everything for you...

The modern cars (996 and above) are fast, stable, and really well balanced. They are a joy to drive. The middle year cars (964 and 993) are quick, light, and so much fun to toss around if you know how to drive a rear-engined car. And the early cars are still quick, but more unstable - making them just as much fun and sometimes more fun.

In my opinion, if you are into figuring out quirky sports cars, there is no more rewarding car than a 911.

Oh, and that Singer car that Larry featured in the video above is the best of all of them. IF you don't know anything about singer, just check this **** out:

Larry's videos are great but don't overlook his podcasts. Although unfortunately he has not released a new one in a while, there are some real gems in there. He brings together the heavy-hitters in the industry for a couple of cool projects and he gets to spend more time answering questions since there is more time allotted in that format.

He is also buddies with the guys over a The Smoking Tire which I recommend checking out. Great podcast and lots of different videos - I really like the "one takes" series.

Well, In the video he actually doesn't recommend the steamer normally, and said it's actually worse than using just water in regards to scratching the paint on dirty cars. He used it to avoid having to detail where the water would leak into due to the rotted seals. And he said he was scratching the paint due to not enough moisture but he planned on restoring the paint anyways.

Thanks for the read! I actually used some of his recomendations, coupled with anther few youtuber's to polish my freshly painted Coil Covers for my C6 Z06 engine. WOW. I have cut and buffed a car before, but a little expert help goes a long way. Coupled with another tip, I did a full battery of wet sanding to 3000Grit, and the 1-2-3 3M system, it came out like glass. Hold it up to a light source, Zero orange peel, its perfectly reflective. Great tips!

Using his trick on how to remove bird poo stains on black paint is my next project, and I'm going to go to the how to restore white paint technique on my car next.

Again, thanks for the heads up, I've not got renewed motivation for my detailing projects.
