Hey guys and gals. I'm starting this thread to share some of my projects as they come to life. Rather than a bunch of little threads, I'll just park it all here.
Updates will come as I work on stuff.

Some background first.
I'm 35 years young and have been a mechanic since I was 16. A few breaks in between to explore other opportunities, but for the most part, Mechanic. A better part of my career has been in a Ford dealership. I am now a fleet mechanic at UPS and love every minute of it!

I have a small 2 car garage that is my main shop and I have a small area in my basement that's a man cave/ shop. Most of what I do is make knives but you never know what I'm going to get into. I'm in the process of updating both so I will post up pics as it goes.

I will update with pictures and more about the "Shop's" ASAP!
Stay tuned.......

Got a couple small projects knocked out today.

This one was inspired by 1/2 cup. I found this really cool shop stool at a barn sell. It adjust up and down. I have needed one of these in a bad way. Today I installed some casters!

This next one was a small rolling steel cabinet that I picked up at a yard sale. I added a handle and painted it with hammer gray.

I don't see a link to your knives for those interested in buying your product?
I like the axes photo with the fire in the background. Would you classify yourself as a redneck. Are there rednecks in Ohio?:headscrat

I no longer have a website because I got way too busy on knife orders from word of mouth, you tube and facebook. Custom knives take a long time to make and can be overwhelming. I haven't read all the rules here yet as I am a new member and have been drooling over all the cool threads here, so I don't want to break any rules by linking my info. I'm not here to sell anything, just share. If people want to buy that's up to them. Knife making is a hobby that pays for itself and helps fund my other projects. Not my income.

if you want yo see more you can like my facebook page and you tube channel. Both are under Killinger blades.

redneck? Um.... Not really lol I guess I have a few traits of a redneck but I'm deff not Jeff Foxorthy defined. They are many in Ohio thou.

Well lets get onto the shop, or shops shall we. I am currently a renter but hope that changes soon. until then I have to make due with what I got and live by there rules. We rent a brick Home on 2 acres in the country. I love this place and always thought some day I could buy it when the land lords retire. Well thats not gonna happen because they dont wanna sell and plan on passing this place along with all there other places onto there children.

As I mentioned before most of what I do in my shop is make knives. I also restore axes, make leather products, work on cars (my own) and some wood working projects as well. I also collect things so I have to have a place to clean or restore said things. lol I have way more junk than I should to say the least.

My main shop is 24'x24'. It is block construction with insulated ceiling. I cant really hang anything on the walls as thats a big no no with the land lords. There is also a 40x40 pole barn rite next to my shop full of junk that for some reason no amount of money in the world can rent! Its crazy! I have offered as much as $300.00 a month more to rent this space and they will not budge. So I must deal with what I have.

My other "shop" is in the basement. Its really my man cave, office and leather shop. I need a place that was clean and dust free for the leather work so thats where Im working. Plus in the winter its a lot cheaper to heat!.

The whole reason I found this site is im redoing everything and was looking for ideas for shop storage and benches, SO when you see these pictures, Please understand that everything is a mess because Im redoing it all. Adding things and getting ride of stuff as I go. It should be fun to follow along and see how it evolves. Then phase 2 will be when we buy a place of our own and do it all over again! Thats gonna be a wile so stay tuned.

Lets start with the man cave shop.

Not much too look at but its a place to get things done and its dust free and clean, well sort of.....

This is where I do all my leather work.

This is a make shift shadow box for taking pictures of the knives.

random leather project that I need to get back too. One of my many cleavers I decided I need a leather sheath for and a way to carry it. I will post pics up when Im done If anyone cares top see. You always need a cleaver you know?....

Some of my Norlund axes waiting for sheathes

more axes and hatchets waiting to be restored....

Mostly restored axes waiting to be played with....

The office. What more can I say lol

The main shop!

I justed picked up this bench. Its an older carpenters bench with a sweet vice on the end. I plan on striping all the paint off this bad boy, making it a little more sturdy and keep it clean. I want to be able to walk over to it and do my wood working projects.

beer fridge and stove for various projects. I got them both for free so hey, why not?

This is a side view of the grinder bench. This is where I spend 80 percent of my time. I plan on making 3 individual benches that I can roll out of the shop in the summer. Both for lighting and dust controll.

This is the newest addition to the shop. Its a wilton 2x72 belt grinder. These bad boys are very expensive but I got this one really cheap because they didnt know what they had!

The 2x72 grinder to the leaft is one I made using plans I got off a website. Its no weld grinder. It works pretty good now but had some hard times getting it to where it is. I learned a lot to say the least. I did a complete build along on this thing.. If anyone is interested I can post it up. A 2x72 grinder is a very useful thing to have. I have used it for many projects and it has come in handy.

more axes and hatchets. what can I say. I cant help myself!!!

A very cool, old chraftsman table saw and jointer that I need to restore and get using!

Pretty sweet JET band saw that Im using the motor out of for my home built 2x72 grinder. I plan on getting another motor and putting this bad boy back in service.

to be continued......

This is another ,new to me. bench i also picked up from the same place as the other bench and grinder. Its pretty cool. Has metal legs and mdf? top? I plan also redoing this bench to beef it up a bit and add some draws. Anyway on top to the right is a piece of **** grizzly 1x42 belt grinder that now has a leather belt on it and I only use for stroping. Its so loud I have to wear ear plugs or it hurts. Thats saying a lot cause I have never had anything bother my hearing so bad. I could go on about all the other things wrong with this thing but Ill save that for another time.

Next to it is an awesome Milwaukee protable band saw on a swag table. It might be one of my most favorite tools in the shop.

This is my main tool box. I no longer need it at work because I just dont need as many tools as I did before. So I took my snap on roll cart instead of having over kill. Next to it is another snap on tool box that used to be my at home box. So now I have 2 tool boxes at home.

storage. Still working this out.

piles of junk I need to find a home for.

This is my main work bench that i built out of all scrap lumber. Used a hard wood floor as the top over some plywood. I still need to finis the edg of the top and apply some finish but i have been using it for over a year now. Only thing I wish I had done was made more of an overhang on the side for clamping things. o well.

Tryed to get the main work area all in.

This is a better picture of a steel table some one made. Its really tall and Im not sure why? Anyway I plan on lowering it and painting it. More on this at a later date.

Well thats it for now. I will post up pics as things come together. I need to get things kinda squared away and get a few knives done. Need to fund some more projects!

Just WOW on the tools!! That old Craftsman Table Saw is a jewel, and mounted alongside the old Jointer would be just perfect. Your entire line of tools, the drill presses, and the sanders and forge---Just great!!! Your garage looks really nice and I love the knife work!! You have it going on and welcome to our little garage journal community!!
I will be very interested in following along!

Best Regards
Herb

Thanks for the kind words. It's taken a long time to collect all these things. Some day I want to restore the table saw and jointer. Add that to my ever growing list of things to do!

Ok, update. I'm going to ship them because I can't save much by picking them up myself. I would loose more money because I would have to take off work. Even more exciting is they found 2 more they said they would sell me for same price! No extra charge for shipping! !!! So that's 15 cabinets! This is gonna be awesome!
