Current sink is the standard 33x22 double bowl stainless

Countertops are just 5 year old, laminate

Funny, the previous house owner redid the kitchen floor, cabinets, appliances, backsplash, and countertops........ Even new can lights and ceiling fan.........Yet left the original sink, faucet, and disposal

I want to remove the 30 year old, scratched and dented, stainless sink from my kitchen, install a new disposal and a new faucet

Soap dispenser hole seems like a good idea..........maybe?

We are leaning away from stainless, and want a colored sink, top mount

My current disposal is a Montgomery Ward 3/4 HP........easily 20+ years old.
It's old, obviously, and loud....... Which I'm sure is partially due to the ss sink.

I bought a 3/4 HP disposal last year from a Sears Hardware that was closing:

Original price was $299, marked down to $249.99....clearanced for $99

This is the top sink on my list:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/KOHLER-...-Sink-in-Matte-Black-K-RH8185-1-CM1/206891057

Neoroc seems like a great material. Neoroc resists scratches, stains, and fading and is highly heat- and impact-resistant.......and it is heat resistant to 750 degrees!!

Home Depot has 0% for 18 months, so I want to get a sink and faucet

Have the same sink.
The only down side is crud/soap/hard water makes the sink look chalky most of the time due to the dark color.
It's almost like you have to wash the sink after you use it for washing stuff.
Other than that it's nice.

So I was looking into a kitchen remodel. Personally I hate the double sinks and never want to have another one of those things. I also looked into a dark colored sink and was almost sold on it. When I asked around to people who actually have them I got the same details as kTHREE said. Look great when you keep them clean but you literally have to clean the sink every time you use it.

Just did a remodel and went with this sink. https://www.us.kohler.com/us/Hartland-33-x-22-x-9-5-8-top-mount-double-equal-kitchen-sink-with-4-faucet-holes/productDetail/kitchen-sinks/427763.htm?skuId=407393&brandId=432846 We like it so far. I would say no to the soap dispenser hole. Refilling the bottle is a PITA. My wife came home with a sink with 4 holes. Didnt want to go through the hassle of returning it even though I only wanted one center hole. The faucet came with a cover to cover the center three and the soap/sprayer hole has a plug in it.

hard water stains might be an issue for me also.........I live in a subdivision with a treated community well (no water meter) that just makes the water potable

I have a whole house sediment filter, but nothing else

So I wonder if a higher end stainless sink would be better..........I am sure this 30 year old sink was good in its day

Here is a picture of my countertops

I was thinking about a black sink, to match the range's black top, but I also have stainless appliances

We have a single bowl standard drop in stainless with a smaller drop in vegetable bowl and a matching cutting board, single center drain. I'll never have anything else - it's way to handy and workable for all kinds of use. Never again a double bowl. Colored sinks stain and scratch, never had any issues with stainless. We used a single lever faucet and have a soap dispenser.

Owned a black car - I'd never have anything black that wasn't a show piece that was kept in a bag and never used for daily work.

My choice would be a high quality stainless sink with your countertops and appliances. And forget the soap dispenser. They sound like a nice idea, but they really are a PITA...I've throw two of 'em in the trash and plugged the holes.

I just finished my kitchen remodel, major re-do, new granite to replace formica. We had a cast white sink before. The front edge delaminated and was about to rust through. The white finish was dull and chipped. Keep in mind, this was after 15 years of use and abuse. We put in a quality stainless steel.

I put in a Kraus stainless undermount with a granite remodel about 5 years ago. Looks great today and not nosiy at all, has a pretty heavy "undercoating" on it. We went with just a large single but deep sink, my wife loves being able to hand wash large items with no mess.

That Kenmore disposal is almost certainly a re-branded Insinkerator.....

I'd avoid a double sink as well as a dark color but that obviously is personal preference. What about a porcelain sink/cast iron sink? It will outlast most others. Had good luck with a Blanco sink in a second home that I used to own. It was stainless and a double, but one section was really small and the main section was fairly large so it was a good compromise for us anyway. It was really well made and stayed looking great no scratches, dents, etc that you sometimes see in stainless sinks. If I had to do it again I'd definitely go with a large single sink. Your counters look great BTW I can't believe that's laminate.

We recently replaced our 2-bowl American Standard Americast sink with the single-bowl Sinkology copper sink from HD and a Delta Charmaine faucet in "bronze". The original sink was almost 21 years old and was rusting through the "enamel" surface on top.

Had a copper sink in a bathroom at my old house. They are beautiful. A word of caution though, be careful what you pour in it. We poured some rubbing alcohol and it ate right through the protective finish. Never looked the same afterwards...

Double Blanco undermount with the toys. They have a chrome grate you can set in place to protect the finish from heavy items if you want, or take it out. Custom fitted cutting board for one side was also nice extra. Looks good with Blue Pearl (black) granite tops.

All the things you say you don't like about your current sink (except color) have to do with it being a cheap (thin) sink and not a stainless sink. The Quality ones will have 18 Gauge or thicker steel and sound deadening material applied to the under side and are generally deeper, They will be noticeably heavier than a cheap 20 or 22 gauge stainless sink that has little if any sound deadening material. I have had cheap stainless sinks (loud), Porcelain coated Cast Iron Sinks (chipped and started rusting), and now have a quality stainless sink and I like it, especially when paired with a quality faucet, and a quiet disposal and dishwasher. I have no experience with the composite sinks, but since you are planning on mounting it over the counter I know I would be concerned with the looks of the thickness/profile of the edge of the sink, stainless is nice and low/thin, composite and cast iron appear to be thicker.

Just replaced our dual bowl enamel Kohler with a single bowl Transolid composite sink, my review is posted on the site: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Transol...l-Kitchen-Sink-in-White-RTSS3322-01/300162914

We'll NEVER go back to anything but a single bowl. We also did away with any extra holes for soap dispensers and that kinda thing as well as deleting the dishwasher air gap (dw is much quieter now). We use an automatic soap dispenser from Simple Human and love it. Friend recommended installing a push button disposal switch in one of the sink holes - good idea but we just kept the wiring as-is for now.

Whenever we do a full kitchen remodel we'll step up to a nicer sink, likely enamel or maybe a high end stainless.

We just bought land to build on and that Krause sink is what I have saved. We had SS years ago and what i liked was you could pour the rest of your coffee in it and the stuff just goes down the drain. Then we have had two houses w/ Corian counter tops w/ the no seam sink. Love the look but first was white and this one is bone and they both stain. Not permanently but enough that we have to keep a cleaner w/ bleach handy to soak it down with. The current one is a double which means neither is large enough.

did you break into our house?

With our new house we opted for a heavy gauge, deep, single bowl stainless. Undermount in this case, although OP will have to do top-mount with laminate. Single hole pull-out-head faucet. And for soap we have the same simplehuman automatic dispenser. We love the large single basin. The only things we ever hand wash are things too big to fit in the dishwasher. So the antiquated double bowl setup really wasn't useful. And you can stack a lot more dirty dishes in the sink once the dishwasher is full to keep the counters clean.

Soap dispenser hole seems like a good idea..........maybe?

My new faucet came with a soap dispenser but the hole in the sink was taken by a small faucet for filtered drinking water. I took an old mason jar, cut a hole in the metal cap and mounted the soap dispenser on the jar. Sits on the counter, looks good, is easy to see when it needs a refill and is easy to refill.

I've personally put in a Kraus set before:

https://www.faucetdirect.com/kraus-...-composite-kitchen-sink-with-pullout/p2547735

This is a good combo because it comes with the faucet and it looks good. I top mounted mine, but you can do undermount as well. As others have said, the black granite can look "chalky" when it's dirty, but nothing a quick scrub can't resolve.

Overall, I thought it was a great combo, well worth it. It looked pretty good, and fit perfectly in the kitchen.

Regarding single vs double, I will always go with a single in the future. Whenever you need to wash a pot or a pan, it is MUCH more convenient than a double bowl.

We replaced our cheap stainless sink with a Kohler cast iron enamel sink similar to Jeffer949's link. Happy so far, it cleans easy and yes it made our noisy cheap disposal nearly silent . Consider the four hole if you think you might ever desire a RO water filter, the fourth hole will be needed for the faucet. We are on a well and the RO drinking water is a huge improvement in drinking water quality for us.

A higher quality stainless might be a idea.......easy to clean with CLR

I like porcelain coated cast, but scratching and chipping is a huge concern

Kohler, enameled, cast iron. Heavy and solid as a rock when installed. I particularly like to rolled over top model called the Mayfield.

30+ years and no scratches or chips.

I will put another vote in for single bowl. I put in a Kraus SS, double bowl, undermount, farmhouse sink and while I like it, single-bowl would have suited me WAY more. Live and learn. The main reason I went two-bowl was to have the disposal on one side and keep the plumbing more or less the same from the old sink. Cheap ******* :(

Being OCD, I like the soap dispenser since I hate clutter on the counter. They all do **** but are cheap and easier enough to replace.

Here is why I would have like the single-bowl. All that mess should be IN the sink ready to wash, not stacked up. Oh well.

If you go Stainless then look for a small radius or tight raidus tub. I have one and love it. The radius it is formed at is probably 1/2" so it gives a nice flat floor and makes the sink feel and use as a much bigger sink.
I love the grates on the bottom and the extra deep is awesome. Here is what I went with, I have it under mount with granite.

We just finished a major kitchen remodel, everything was replaced. I refuse to by Kohler because I have had so much bad stuff from them in the past. We went with a Blanco granite sink and are very happy with it.

Bota slid over for Plump and Connor3.
Here’s what came with the house. The downfall of the farmhouse style is that it’s lower at the edge. This means more dirty dishes can be seen and much easier to get water to spray or splash onto you.

We installed a black Blanco Silgranite double sink which is granite particles fused together with some kind of glue. Fantastic sink! Looks great, it's totally quiet, cleans easily and doesn't stain. Highly recommended!

Op has a laminate counter so can't use an undermount sink. We have an undermount sink in our RV and it traps/collects grunge around the perimeter where the counter meets the sink. Highly not recommended!

We also have a Blanco bar sink in our island. That has been one of the best features we've ever had in a house. If we ever move, the new place has gotta have one...

Last sink I purchased was a Swanstone, like the one pictured below. Pretty sure I'd now go with a equal double, though the one below seemed a good idea at the time. They no longer offer the color we had, which was a coral, and looked great in our new kitchen, in our previous house. They've also come down in price, but I'd highly recommend them. I'd also forget about the soap dispenser, as I put an RO system in my new house, and ripped out the existing soap dispenser in favor of the RO faucet.

Another Blanco here.

I don’t understand the complaints about difficulty in refilling soap dispensers in several posts here.

Installation on ours was a pita because the tank screws in from the bottom, but refilling is simply a matter of pulling up on the pump , dumping in some soap, and reinstalling the pump.

Takes longer to find the soap than to refill.

What am I missing?

check out franke sinks. my personal opinion is that undermounts aren't what they are made out to be. mostly all i see that are several years old had a nice ring of mold or crud built up in that gap between the sink and countertop

Kohler cast iron in black, with a hole for a soap dispenser. The black porcelain cleans easily & maintains it's shine. The weight of the cast iron turned the disposal so quiet I thought there was something wrong with it the first time we used it. The soap dispenser isn't hard to refill if you unscrew the bottle to refill it. A FULL bottle means you don't need to do it very often.........:dunno: Reasonable price, quiet, & long lasting.

Stupid question on sink size

I see they sell 33x18 and 32x18

They also sell 33x22 and 32x22

Are these rough openings or how can I measure my current sink to order the right size sink?

The depth would be nice to have a 9" over an 8", just some minor plumbing work underneath right?
