Just bought 2 this afternoon for $2.60 each. I check earlier in the day and it was 20 each. Strange how they went down and other stores still have them at a higher price.

Bought the last two pairs from the next town over, used a 10% off coupon and paid $5.10 total including tax.
I love this forum.

If anyone is in the area, the Kingston, MA store has three 8" combination pliers for $1.04 each & two 10" Alligator pliers for $1.63 each.

Really don't understand how the online inventory is so messed up. Been watching these for a bit. Checked inventory this morning and my store is showing some available. I've been out of town. The kicker is....

the 8" pliers are down to .80
the 10" slip joint plier is down to 1.35
and the insulated wire strippers are down to 3.70.

going to go see if they are actually there........I'll report back

make sure you have someone check above the electrical tool rack where the new southwire stuff is. Thats where they are in most of my local stores if not on the rack.

Combo was $3.40
Alligator was $4.08.
Can't believe I finally got in on a Knipex deal.
$15.90 with tax.
Thanks OP.
Also as has been said in other Lowes threads, ignore the price tag and have these scanned to get the price.
These were marked $13(???) & $17(???).

Tried a Lowes today that computer inventory said they had 6. I didn't trust it so went to store in person (only few mile drive). They checked multiple clearance locations but never found any.

Finally the customer service rep found the right guy and he said no luck, as they were likely stolen and inventory was wrong.

Convinced Lowes CSR to give me the Kobalt 8" linesmen pliers for $5.19 which was half price of Knipex.

Thanks anyway OP. You guys that scored alligator for great price or other pliers around $1 . . . . well YOU **** !!

Wow that's a hell of a deal more like a steal! I paid $14 and change for just the 2 pairs of 8" pliers. Wow

Hasn't been any Knipex at the local Loews for months - all we've got is the Chicom Southwire **** at Knipex prices.

Does Lowes seriously think anyone is going to buy this ****?

^ ^ ^ Agree. When I was looking for the Knipex clearance items, the Lowes worker even took me to brand new section that was just reset with Southwire ****. My guess is Lowe's made a backdoor deal with Southwire to be their "house brand" of ****.

Yes, because:

1. Most people will be happy with what is called "commercially acceptable', AKA 'good enough'.
2. Some people won't know they ever sold Knipex.
3. Some people will, but won't know the difference.
4. Even the people who know will eventually forget or give up
5. People will buy it when they need a tool at 8:45 on Friday night.

Now, if #5 is the case, hopefully they'll be smart enough to take it back the following week, especially if it didn't do the job well.

I had a Lowes employee tell me they had been told by some customers buying for work use , that they could only buy name brands (knipex , greenlee , Channellock ) So lowes is going to lose commercial $ also .

No, because:
1. They put the electrical tools away from the "Tool World" because they are marketed towards commercial buyers mostly
2. They still couldn't move Knipex, probably because commercial users just don't buy their tools from a place like Lowes, except in a pinch.
3. Commercial buyers are very sensative to brand because they know what holds up and what doesn't.

Basically they replaced an expensive, reputable, durable brand with an expensive, unknown, Chinese brand. This is a move purely for $$$ but it won't work.

Finally found a store that showed in stock online. Actually having them in store. BUT. They had moved the pliers and nippers to the board of tools for catv and phone work. Not the normal electrical tool area. (Next aisle over). They had the wire cutters hanging on the shelf post

There's still 2 at one of my stores marked at $9.88. They will price match to $5.19 however, as that's how I got my last 3 pairs...
