Knipex and channellock clearanced at lowes

With Knipex I just want to have the real thing. I don't know why.

I have both the Craftsman and the Knipex in larger sizes and the Craftsman version does look and feel a little cheaper. Maybe mind over matter, but the Craftsman do not seem the same as the original branded Knipex pliers.

It looked like they were putting almost all of their electrical tools (save the Ideal stuff) on clearance at my local Lowe's.
As suggested before, it appears they are trying to make it Kobalt or nothing (save the stuff they don't offer, which isn't much) with basic hand tools. I even noticed that they have a very strong Kobalt presence with shovels and rakes now too.

Yeah, bought a couple electrical tools at my Lowe's the other day, clerk said they are going to almost all Kobalt. Some of the items are about half price, some are a couple bucks off, and some in between. Some nice tools left, though. Good quality stuff, while it lasts.

Higher margins and more control over their house brand....I'm not surprised. I'm sure it sells pretty well already so there's really no downside. Knipex has no shot to begin with at Lowes because they shove it off in the electrical aisle, meaning the pros are the only ones who will buy them.
at the knipex price point I don't think you're going to find too many non-pro buyer anyways. it wasn't a matter of placement, it was the price point was too high and there was zero marketing on what value that higher price got you. frankly, even though I had heard they were high quality, I never bought them because of price, not until this clearance sale did I finally own some knipex.

I'm gonna have to quit this site. Every time I read a post it costs me money. I went to the local Lowes and spent close to 100.00 on 2 pair needle nose pliers and 2 pair of the small alligator pliers.

Based on this thread, I took a ride to my local Lowes this morning and found most of the Knipex stuff to be virtually wiped out. There were a couple pairs of regular needle nose pliers, a pair of mini bolt cutters (that I didn't need, but still bought) and a couple pairs of wire stripping needle nose pliers. The prices were marked down about 25%. The Channellocks were all marked down too. There was still a pretty good selection of Channellocks left on the hooks.

Damn why cant i find that. Every lowes near me only discounted all of the knipex a few dollars. And it all sold like that.
Has anyone seen the new southwire tools? They look like they southwire bought Klein tools made them look identical. They have 2 grip versions and the cushion grip look IDENTICAL to Klein journeyman. They feel pretty good but not for Klein prices for chinese knock offs. The Prices seem to be in between Klein and knipex. I know they did this for higher margins but come on the prices are more than the USA channellock stuff. I don't think the general public is going to pay those prices regardless of coo. And pros are not going to pay those prices for Chinese Klein knock offs.
The one near me was asking $60... More than I wanted to pay for tools that I didn't need... but at $40 I would have a hard time saying no to that set...

I was at lowes the other day and stopped by the electrical to see if there was any deals. The knipex was all gone and they were re organizing the shelves with the southwire tools. I took a quick look and wasn't impressed at all.
I have 4 lowes within 25 mins or less from my house, next time I am near one I will try it

Cleared out the entire inventory of Knipex at the Lowe's nearest me today.
Sounds much cooler than saying I bought the one solitary, lonely wrench left on the shelf!

The only thing left at all of my local ones was 9" Linemans pliers. I picked up 3 Insulated handle and 2 regular for $ 22.** a piece.
I like that. 
Read the first sentence, thought, man this guy is loaded. Read the second sentence, this guy has a good sense of humor.
